When Will Disneyland Begin Offering Fastpasses for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run?
Earlier this week, we shared the news that Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will begin offering Fastpasses at Disney’s Hollywood Studios next month. This is leading those on the West Coast to wonder if the same will be happening over at Disneyland.
Let’s start with an update on what’s happening at Walt Disney World. Those planning a visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios after February 19th can now make Fastpasses reservations for Smugglers Run via the My Disney Experience app. However, it looks like it may be a while for those at Disneyland Resort. Though Smugglers Run has been up and running at Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland for 8 months, Disney has yet to utilize the FastPass line for the attraction.
Disney was recently asked by the OC Register whether FastPasses were coming to the West Coast. Disney answered that there were no plans to do that at this time. This may be due to crowd levels at Disneyland’s new Star Wars-themed land. Rise of the Resistance at Walt Disney World opened much earlier than the West Coast counterpart meaning that crowd levels still haven’t had a chance to thin out to ensure a smooth transition to FastPasses.
The twin Smugglers Run flight-simulators on both coasts offers the exact same ride experience for visitors. Guests enter the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon as you square off against First Order TIE fighters during a mission to recover a pile of loot. The 100-foot long Millennium Falcon serves as the main focal point of Black Spire Outpost the setting for the new land.
The ride made its debut at Disneyland 3 months before the Disney World version. However, for Rise of the Resistance, the converse is true. Resistance at Hollywood Studios opened a month and a half before it did in Anaheim. It has been drawing massive crowds at both parks resulting in Disney implementing a boarding group process for guests wishing to ride Rise of the Resistance.
So when can we expect a Smugglers Run FastPass line at Disneyland?
The short answer is that Disney’s Hollywood Studios waited three months for the Rise of the Resistance fervour to die down before opening up FastPass options for Millennium Falcon. Were they to use a similar model at Disneyland that would put us somewhere in April.
