Construction Update: Walkway From Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom
Soon there will be a brand new way to get from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to the Magic Kingdom – by foot! Disney is currently in the process of building a new pedestrian walkway that will connect the beloved Disney Deluxe Resort to the theme park.
Our MickeyBlogger was on the scene this week and managed to capture some images of this project which as you’ll see is definitely making progress! Let’s take a look:
Though it seems like it would be a quick and easy undertaking, a walkway actually needs to be laid along Seven Seas Lagoon along the monorail track and will include a bridge.
Construction teams are hard at work on the project.
Once complete, guests will get to enjoy beautiful views and a fun way to access the theme park complete with a security checkpoint similar to the pathway from the Contemporary Resort to the Magic Kingdom.
Here’s another look at construction crews working along the lagoon.
According to permits filed for the project, the walkway will include a pivot bridge. This will allow the pedestrian bridge to move back and forth for boats coming in and out of the area.
The shot above shows perfectly how the walkway will be laid out! You can see Cinderella Castle on the far right. The walkway pivot bridge is on the far left. Guests will walk along the Lagoon with a security checkpoint being set up near the Magic Kingdom monorail stop!
