Happy New Year! Now that the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is wrapping down, it’s time to start thinking of those 2020 vacations. Whether it’s a Spring Break vacation, family reunion, or a quick getaway, there are several reasons to make a visit to Walt Disney World this year. Here are our top 20 reasons why:
1. New Star Wars Experiences Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios
If you are a Star Wars new destination that was just added into Star Tours – The Adventures Continuefan, 2020 is the year to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Walt Disney World! From the newly-opened Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to , Disney’s Hollywood Studios is overflowing with offerings for Star Wars fans of all ages.
2. After Hours Events at the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom
Would you like to experience your favorite attractions at the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom with little to no waits? Then, an After Hours Event is for you! Snacks including soft drinks, popcorn, and Mickey Bars are even included! Tickets are now on sale for After Hours Events in 2020 at Walt Disney World so, start planning your visit today.
3. Epcot International Festival of the Arts
The Epcot International Festival of the Arts returns to Walt Disney World and Epcot in 2020 from January 17 to February 24. Guests attending this annual event are invited to explore a variety of galleries, watch live art demonstrations, purchase artwork and get it signed by the artist, or take in a live performance in the festival’s Disney on Broadway Concert Series.
4. New Films Arrive in Epcot at Walt Disney World in 2020
Mark January 17, 2020 on your calendar as this date marks the debut date of three new films in Epcot at Walt Disney World. “Awesome Planet” in The Land pavilion showcases the Earth’s beauty and diversity in a 10-minute film featuring spectacular imagery, in-theater effects and an original musical score from Academy Award-winning composer Steven Price.
“Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360” in the Canada pavilion is an update to the previous “O Canada!” film with new scenes, a new musical score by Canadian composer Andrew Lockington and new narration by award-winning actors Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy.
Sing Along to “Beauty and the Beast” in the France Pavilion – The “Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along” will debut in the France pavilion Jan. 17. Directed and produced by Don Hahn, producer of the animated and live-action “Beauty and the Beast” films, the show invites you to participate in a twist on a tale as old as time. It features narration from Angela Lansbury, who played Mrs. Potts in the original film.
5. Villains After Hours Events at the Magic Kingdom
Back for another year for 2020 in Walt Disney World is Villains After Hours Events in the Magic Kingdom! The event will be held on 24 nights during 2020 with the first being held on February 7. This year, the event will feature a new Villains Caravan that will feature favorite baddies like Gaston, Oogie Boogie, Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook and more!
6. Regal Eagle Smokehouse Coming to Epcot
Guests visiting Walt Disney World in 2020 will have the chance to try new dining options including the Regal Eagle Smokehouse coming to Epcot. The fast-casual barbecue experience will be located in the American Adventure and offer Guests the chance to feast on sliced Texas beef brisket sandwiches, Kansas City smoked chicken, Memphis dry-rub pork ribs, North Carolina chopped smoked pork butt, power green salads and more.
7. Space 220 Restaurant Opens at Epcot
Also opening at Epcot this Winter, will be the much-anticipated Space 220 Restaurant. This unique dining experience will transport Guests on a special elevator for a journey 220 miles above Earth to a space station where you’ll enjoy fantastic meals and drinks while taking in views that are truly out of this world.
8. Ample Hills Creamy Comes to Disney Springs
Guests visiting Disney Springs will soon be able to experience Ooey Gooey Butter Cake, Peppermint Pattie and Nonna D’s Oatmeal when an all-new Ample Hills Creamry opens this winter 2020. This will be the second Ample Hills Creamery location at Walt Disney World.
9. City Works Eatery & Pourhouse Opens at Disney Springs
Another dining option opening at Walt Disney World in 2020 is the City Works Eatery & Pourhouse. This new restaurant and bar coming to Disney Springs will offer more than 80 beers on tap, will feature plenty of high-def TVs including a 165-inch screen, perfect for viewing live sporting events.
10. Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival Returns
One of my favorite spring events at Walt Disney World is the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. The popular Festival returns in 2020 from March 4 to June 1 and will feature delectable bites at outdoor kitchens, as well as dozens of world-renowned, Disney-themed topiaries. In addition, the Garden Rocks Concert Series will include three shows a day for all 90 days of the event.
11. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Opens in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, set to open March 4 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will be the first Disney ride-through attraction featuring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. Here, you will travel inside a Mickey cartoon for a fun-filled adventure where “Mouse rules apply” and anything can happen!
12. The Mickey Shorts Theater Debuts at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Also opening in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2020 is an all-new Mickey-inspired theater where Guests Stop will be able to stop in to watch an original cartoon short and enjoy special photo opportunities.
13. New Cirque du Soleil Show ‘Drawn to Life’
Coming to Disney Springs and Walt Disney World in 2020 is the all-new Cirque du Soleil Show, “Drawn to Life.” Once open, Guests will be invited to journey into a world where an animator’s desk becomes the stage and drawings come alive.
14. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Opens in Epcot
Another much-anticipated attraction opening at Walt Disney World in 2020 is Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. The ride, opening in 2020, invites Guesets to join Chef Remy on a super-sized journey through Gusteau’s kitchen.
15. La Creperie de Paris Comes to Epcot
If you are looking for some new tasty treats to enjoy during your Walt Disney World vacation in 2020, La Creperie de Paris will be the place to be! Offering both table- and quick-service options, the menu from celebrity chef Jérôme Bocuse is inspired by the Brittany region of France is set to open in the Summer.
16. Epcot International Food & Wine Festival
The iconic Epcot International Food & Wine Festival returns to Walt Disney for it’s 25th anniversary this Fall. Dates are yet to be announced but this Festival offers chances to meet celebrity chefs, try new food and wine pairings, and listen to great music during the Eat to the Beat Concert Series.
17. Halloween and Holiday Events Return to Walt Disney World
The ever-popular Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will return to the Magic Kingdom in 2020. Dates for these parties should be announced some time within the next few months.
18. All-New Nighttime Spectacular ‘Harmonious’ Debuts at Epcot
In 2020, Epcot is on track to debut the largest nighttime spectacular ever created for a Disney park. It will celebrate how the music of Disney inspires people the world over, carrying you away harmoniously on a stream of familiar Disney tunes reinterpreted by a diverse group of artists from around the globe. The show will feature massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics, lasers and more.
19. Toy Story-Themed, Roundup Rodeo BBQ Opens
Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2020 will be the Toy Story-themed, Roundup Rodeo BBQ! This new dining option coming to Walt Disney World in 2020 will be considered a table service restaurant and will immerse Guests with a kaleidoscope of toys, games, and playsets while serving up delicious dishes.
20. Animal Kingdom to Celebrate Several Milestones
2020 marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and the 25th anniversary of the Disney Conservation Fund. Plus, Animal Kingdom’s gorilla family will be celebrating Lilly’s 10th birthday and Grace’s 1st birthday this spring!
