Disney Could Be Rebooting the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’
That’s right movie fans, we may not have seen the end of the pillaging and the plundering just yet! According to a recent report on ScreenCrush.com, Disney may be moving forward on their plans to reboot the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
According to sources, Disney has brought in Ted Elliot who along with his writing partner Terry Rossion have worked on every Pirates film with the exception of Dead Man Tell No Tales in 2017. It’s also being reported that Craig Mazin who has gained recent accolades as the creator of Cherynobyl has been tasked with working on the story for the next Pirates feature.
Though the last film was panned by critics it still grossed an impressive $800 million at the box office making it a profitable franchise to revisit. However, Johnny Depp who originated the role of Jack Sparrow has become quite the polarizing figure as of late so It remains to be seen whether Captain Jack will be in the film and whether Depp will resume his role. The whole project is very much a work in progress. Elliott and Mazin are replacing writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick of Deadpool fame who were brought on last year to come up with their own Pirates concept which apparently never really materialized.
Prior to taking on the Pirates project and before Chernobyl Wazin’s other writing credits include Scary Movie 3 and 4, The Hangover Part II and Indentify Thief which might make him a good fit for the pace and humor for the project.
It will be interesting to see how the future of the franchise shapes up in the weeks and months ahead! Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for the latest news and updates!
