4 Year Old Evan Has Won Over the Hearts of Disney Characters With His Awesomeness
We’ve got another fantastic feel-good story for your Tuesday afternoon! Here at MickeyBlog, we (like many Disneyland characters) have been completely won over by 4-year-old Evan. Like many kids his age, Evan (who also has Autism) is a HUGE Disney fan! As a matter of fact, not only does he love spending time at the theme parks but he also loves dressing the part!

The first time I heard another child tell my son he was weird and to get away from her my heart shattered. He is autistic and has microcephaly. I have been through some hard times, but in that split second I felt devastation like I’ve never known before. And for a moment (just a moment) I wished that he wasn’t “different.” ••• Everyday I watch my children face challenges most of us will never understand. As their mom all I can do is love, encourage, and support them in a world that often tells them they’ll never be fully accepted by society. Being your true authentic self isn’t always easy, but my children are WORKIN’ IIITTTTT *snap snap*! I teach them to love one another and to always always ALWAYS practice kindness even in the face of adversity and hatred. ••• It’s also Pride Month and I thought this video and photo were fitting since Evan is not only rocking that Snow White princess dress like the true queen that he is, but also completely owning his authentic self! Let’s celebrate our differences instead of using them as weapons against one another (just like Evan is doing in his sparkly dress). Love is love ✊?❤️?????✊? ••• Edit: A BIG thank you to CM Megan from Oakland for helping to create some of these amazing memories for Evan and the rest of us ??? ••• Edit 2: For all those who have an issue with this, you are more than welcome to block, unfollow, or simply leave my page. Take that negativity someplace else. And for all the people unfollowing me because I posted this…girl, BYE ?? . . . . . . . #disneyland #disneyparks #autism #specialneeds #disneyfamily #disneylandresort #disneyside #disneyaccount #disneykids #disneymom #happiestplaceonearth #disneyblogger #disneyaddict #disneymagic #annualpassholder #ilovedisney #disneyphotography #disneycommunity #pride #pridemonth #happiestplace
According to a recent piece appearing on CBS News, Evan who was adopted out of foster care has experienced his fair share of adversity. His mother was addicted to drugs and he was born prematurely. He was also diagnosed with microcephaly “and global developmental delays.” His adopted mother Eeka Rocha McLeod told the network, “His muscles are weak, he’s only begun talking recently and still struggles with speech, and his social interactions are always a little unique.”
However, Evan’s family is lucky enough to live near Disneyland and often share videos of their kids living the magic on Instagram. During his visits Evan has won over many a Disney character (princesses especially) not only with his bubbly personality but also with his incredible costumes! He mom explains that Evan loves wearing dresses to the parks! She said that Evan first asked to wear a dress in June when his family was getting ready for their weekly Disneyland visit! She said that he was adamant that he wanted to go as Snow White.

Once upon a wicked dream ? ••• There’s a little backstory behind this video. Evan had dressed like Maleficent and loved his outfit. He saw the new movie the night before and couldn’t wait to meet her. When we finally found her the cast member told us that we would have to come back at another time. I let him watch her for a few mins so he could at least see his evil heroine for a bit. Once she was done seeing guests she called the CM over and whispered something to her. She then walked straight up to him solely focused on him even though people were crowding around and yelling to her. She took him by the hand and gave him this extra special moment. Gah! My heart! ?? ••• This was the same woman who once, dressed as the Evil Queen, told me to never apologize for my children’s unique behaviors. That those who refuse to understand aren’t worth knowing. Idk who this woman is, but she’s an incredible human being and I applaud Disney for choosing such exemplary employees. Evan lives for these small moments and his little face said it all ? Disneyland is always extra magical for him because it’s one of the rare places that he’s not judged or shunned for being different. He feels completely at home and can be his most authentic self. I hope he never loses that sense of magic ✨ . . . . . . #happiestplace #disneylandcastandcommunity #disneyfamily #abc7eyewitness #maleficent #maleficentmistressofevil #disneyvillain #disneyland #disneymoms #disneylandhalloween #disneylandcalifornia #disneymagic #loungefly #princessboybounds #disneykids #disneystyle #visitanaheim #ocmoms #disneylandresort #happiestplaceonearth #fantasyland #sleepingbeautycastle #annualpassholder #disneyparks
Since then, Evan with his awesome mohawk and enviable frocks can often be seen mingling with Disney’s goodies (and baddies) as you can see in the clip with Maleficent above. McLeod said, “It didn’t take long for me to realize that Evan’s way of thinking and behaving wasn’t so different from most children. The only real difference is he tosses a whole lotta FABULOUS into everything he does.”

Help out the Disney cleaning crew ✅ Look fabulous while doing it ✅✅ ••• HAPPY 3 DAY WEEKEND! I hope our many friends and followers entering the parks this weekend remember that it takes an incredible staff to maintain the beauty that is Disneyland. There are so many ways to recognize those who keep the Disney parks in peak condition. My favorite way is to leave cast compliments at City Hall (Disneyland) or Chamber of Commerce (DCA). And while we don’t see them, there is a cleaning crew that works tirelessly overnight to ensure everything in the parks is clean as a whistle! I never forget these unsung hero’s and appreciate all they do for park goers and guests ?? We hope everyone has a safe, fun, and clean ?weekend ?? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #happiestplace #disneyfamily #disneykid #disneymom #disneyannualpassholder #disneyfans #disneylandforever #disneyparks #disneyside #disneyaccount #disneykids #happiestplaceonearth #disneyblogger #disneyaddict #disneyigers #disneylandresort #disneygram #ilovedisney #disneycommunity #annualpassholder #disneylandcastandcommunity #abc7eyewitness #disneymoms #princessboybounds #disneyfun #disneyland
McLeod admitted that she has had negative comments made about her son wearing dresses but that won’t dissuade the visits or from sharing her families magical moments on Instagram. And fortunately for Evan, as you can see above, the characters at Disneyland don’t judge him or shun him!
