Incredible Creatures Add Extra Element of Fun to Your Galaxy’s Edge Visit
One of the things that makes Galaxy’s Edge such an extra special place to visit are all of the incredible details that went into making Black Spire Outpost seem like something straight out of the Star Wars films. One of the fabulous ways that this is evident is in the exotic creatures you’ll see at many of the Batuu run businesses. Check out a few of our favorites here!
Dok-Ondar
Dok-Ondar is the proprietor of an intergalactic curiosity shop – Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. This alien hails from the planet Ithor. His collection includes a variety of oddities including taxidermic creatures, holocrons and more! Many travellers also know Dok as the “gatekeeper” of the Black Market at Black Spire Outpost. If you come into contact with Dok during your next visit try not to get on his bad side!
Ollopom
The curious creature you see above is often mistaken for a plant. Ollopoms are aquatic rodents found in the Gungan swamps on Naboo. You may remember this as the home planet of Padme Amidala as well as the Gungan Jar Jar Binks from The Phantom Menace. You can get a closer look at an Ollopom for yourself at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. His name is Ollie and he was a gift from Hondo who found the creature in an unmarked cargo container.
Sarlacc
You’ll probably know sarlaccs as the carnivorous giants seen in the infamous sand pit scene in Return of the Jedi. Though these creatures can grow up to 100 meters long, you’ll find a smaller version named Simpi at Dok-Ondars. Rumor has it that Simpi was procured by none other than Han Solo and Chewbacca. Dok keeps this creature in a special tank that simulates the arid and atmospheric conditions of his home planet!
Hondo Ohnaka
For visitors that remember “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels” animated series, Hondo Ohnaka is the infamous Weequay pirate turned “legitimate” businessman that may or may not serve as a smuggler now on Batuu. You’ll come face to face with Hondo during the ride queue form Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. His job is to instruct new recruits about his mission which is to deliver coaxium an item that is of significant importance to both the First Order and the Resistance making your run aboard the iconic spacecraft that much more interesting!
Wampa
Originating from the planet Hoth, these carnivorous creatures are covered in white fur, horns and have fierce claws for survival. You may remember Luke’s encounter with the species in The Empire Strikes Back. Thankfully on Batuu, you won’t find a living version of the creature. Rather, Dok Ondar has secured a taxidermic Wampa for visitors to study. You’ll find it in the Den of Antiquities.
Dianoga
These slimy, tentacled carnivores thrive in dark hiding places. You may remember them from A New Hope when a Dianoga attacked Luke Skywalker in the Death Star trash compactor. You’ll find two of these creatures on Batuu. The first is near the water fountain in the Black Spire Outpost Marketplace (keep an eye on the water tank above.) The second is a young Dianoga named “Toothy” in Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities.
Worrt
Adopt one of these frog-like creatures during your next visit to Galaxy’s Edge at the Creature Stall in the Black Spire Outpost Marketplace. This carnivorous amphibian is a native of Tatooine famously seen outside of Jabba the Hutt’s palace in Return of the Jedi. However, you’ll want to be careful of a Worrt’s powerful tongue which is known to snatch up rodents and insects amazingly quick. If you look closely you may also find a worrt in one of the amphibian tanks at Oga’s Cantina!
