How to Spend the Perfect Day on Batuu!
The moment that you enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you’re on the clock! To give everyone a chance to spend time on Batuu, park officials have limited access to Black Spire Outpost. You’ll have exactly four hours to do everything that you want before the clock sadly runs out on your time at the most immersive themed land ever built.
Don’t worry! We can help you maximize your four hours to do everything possible at Black Spire Outpost! Here’s a guide on how to spend the perfect day at Star Wars Land.
The Most Popular Places on Batuu
The moment that you enter Black Spire Outpost, you’ll face a decision. You must choose how to spend your time. Even I, a moderately successful tourism advisor, cannot tell you precisely what to do. Some local points of interest will appeal to you more than others.
What I can do instead is relay traffic information to you. The visitors at this settlement favor certain businesses over others. Also, we drink a lot here. These aspects of daily life on Batuu will inform your decisions.
The largest crowds and longest lines at Black Spire Outpost are found at three locations. I will discuss each one in detail, but the places are Oga’s Cantina, Savi’s Workshop, and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.
Savi’s Workshop
Savi’s Workshop is a place where a master craftsman builds unique weapons for seekers with deep pockets. These devices cost 199 intergalactic credits, a stiff price that many can’t/won’t pay.
Despite the substantial cost of doing business, Savi’s Workshop does have waits of up to an hour. Part of the explanation is the size of the place. To craft the finest lightsabers possible, The Gatherers only allow a small number of guests per building session. The maximum is 14 people.
Generally, at least one full batch of people will be in line ahead of you. Since each construction process takes about 20 minutes, you can quickly calculate how long the wait is by counting the guests in front of you. Any wait of longer than an hour is not the best use of your time on Batuu. Visitors are only allowed to spend four hours at Black Spire Outpost.
Should you wait, please remember this tip. Lightsabers are illegal here on Batuu. I won’t ask why you need one. I’ll simply state that those of you in need of one should speak in coded language. Remember to ask about scrap metal when you want directions to Savi’s Workshop. Should you ask about lightsabers instead, you could cause problems with law enforcement officials in the area.
Oga’s Cantina and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run
The longest waits at Black Spire Outpost are for drinking and smuggling, the two primary forms of entertainment on planet. Oga’s Cantina is the nightspot of choice in town, although it’s open all day long.
The timeless nature of the environment will make you feel like you’ve partied all night even when you’ve only been there for a couple of drinks. Since so many residents lose track of time, a wait of an hour or more is likely. You’ll love every second that you’re drinking inside the cantina, but you won’t love the lines to get inside.
Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run is quite popular due to the rumors about the vessel itself. Some say that it’s the fastest starship in the land, with rumors persisting that it once managed the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs. I don’t believe such stories, as that’s clearly impossible.
Still, Batuuvians love to drive fast starships. And they love to smuggle illegal contraband even more. The line to work with Hondo Ohnaka is often 60-90 minutes long. It has a strange phenomenon, though. It tends to shrink toward the end of the four-hour window. You’ll get more out of your visit to Black Spire Outpost by waiting to smuggle things.
The Best Itinerary
The way to spend a perfect four hours at Batuu is simple. When you need “scrap metal,” head straight to this section as soon as you set foot on planet. Those of you who don’t want to drop $200 on a lightsaber should ignore this step, but the second step for guests in need of weapons is the same as the first step for those who don’t.
Go to Oga’s Cantina as soon as possible! You can order a drink here and hang out for as long as you like. You’ll feel like you’re a regular at Black Spire Outpost when you spend an hour or so here. Those of you who get lightsabers first will wait at least half an hour longer than the ones who head straight to the cantina. Based on early feedback, the overwhelming majority of tourists aren’t buying $200 lightsabers, and so I will presume that this is your first stop on Batuu.
Once you’re done at Oga’s, don’t feel like you have to head straight to Millennium Falcon: Galaxy’s Edge. You want to time it so that you smuggle things after you’ve been on Batuu for a couple of hours. So, your next step should be a bit of exploration.
Black Spire Outpost is massive, and many of the people whom you encounter have their own stories to share. Interact with them and remember to use your datapad (I think you humans call them smartphones) to learn more about the world of Batuu.
On some occasions, a person whom you encounter will tell you to seek out someone else. Presuming that you aren’t short on time, do this. It’s a kind of quest that can aid the citizens of Black Spire Outpost in their daily routines.
Some of you may have political allegiances to either The Resistance or The First Order. Your missions could help your cause with your favored group. More importantly, it could boost your reputation with the locals. Also, as a general rule of thumb, you should help people when they ask. It’s the menschy thing to do.
During your explorations, check out the local merchandise. You’ll find several knickknacks, collectibles, and artifacts that you can take off planet as keepsakes of your time on Batuu. And it’s great for the local economy, too.
One of the places you may want to visit is the Droid Depot. It’s like Savi’s Workshop, only this place traffics in personal droids rather than illegal weapons. You could spend 20 minutes here building a droid that will be your loyal companion forever. Alternately, you could visit the Creature Stall and purchase a new animal friend. The bazaars of Batuu sell a treasure trove of unique antiquities that will suit any budget. As a tourist, you should plan to spend a significant part of your visit shopping.
Food is another way to pass the time. You humans are quite fragile, and so you need sustenance to survive four hours of walking around Black Spire Outpost. Several snack stands are available, and they sell intergalactic favorites like Blue Milk, Green Milk, and Kettle corn. For a heartier meal, you should visit Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo.
Whenever you eat, please use Mobile Ordering. It’s a Batuu service that allows you to select your meals via your datapad aka smartphone. You can skip the lines this way and simply head over to the pick-up area for your food. It’s essential that you do this since it saves valuable time during your four-hour visit.
Once you’ve done everything else on your list, you should get in line for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. By this point, the wait should be an hour or less. Even if it’s not, you should have plenty of time to ride it before heading off planet.
Please savor every detail of this part of Black Spire Outpost. The Millennium Falcon is one of the most storied vessels in the galaxy. You’ll know that you’re near the line for the ride when you see the ship itself. To many tourists, this opportunity for a commemorative picture is irresistible. It won’t be your only chance to admire the vehicle, though.
As you walk through the line, you’ll get to see an above ground view of the starship. It’s if anything more impressive from this perspective. Later on, you’ll see Hondo Ohnaka towering over you. He’s ready to offer a bit of encouragement while discussing your smuggling mission. I’m told that many humans are awed by the “realism” of Hondo, whatever that means.
Finally, you’ll check off the most critical item on your list when you ride Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. To many guests, it’s the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Savor it, tourists, for your time on Batuu is coming to a close. We must ship you out to allow more guests to see the beauty of the Galaxy’s Edge.
Visit the Happiest Place on Earth
Here’s the spectacular part of spending four hours on planet. While it doesn’t feel that way when you’re at Black Spire Outpost, you’re in Disneyland, the world’s first theme park. Once you exit Star Wars Land, you still have the rest of your park day to visit the Happiest Place on Earth!
Don’t sleep on this part of your journey! While I’ve never ventured off planet, my understanding is that the many faraway lands here provide wonderful escapism to intergalactic travelers!
Since Earthly portions of the realm are open for 12 hours or more, you’ll still have plenty of time to visit Haunted Mansions and Space Mountains and all of these other amazing things that I’ve heard so much about. Please tell me what you think of those Earth delicacies, churros, the next time that you’re on planet again.
Til the Spires, my friends!
