8 Things We Love About Toy Story Land on Its 1st Birthday
It’s official, Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World is celebrating its first year of wowing kids of all ages. We think there’s so much to love about this whimsical new area of the theme park that for those who have yet to stroll around Andy’s backyard, we wanted to give you a taste of what you’re missing. With that in mind, check out 8 reasons why Toy Story Land is near and dear to our hearts!
The Chance To Mingle With Your Favorite Toy Story Friends
No visit to Andy’s playset would be complete without the chance to mingle with some of your favorite characters from the Toy Story films. Have those autograph books and cameras at the ready for encounters with Woody, Buzz, Bo Peep and more. We’re even told that you may be able to spot Forky near the entrance to the land. Several times a day Sarge also leads his Corps of Green Army man throughout Toy Story Land. They’re even known to play games with the guests including “Sarge Says”. You’ll also have an opportunity to participate in an interactive boot camp.
Enjoy Slinky Dog Dash By Day and Night
This new family-friendly coaster is definitely one of the highlights of a Toy Story Land visit. If you can swing it, we think the attraction should definitely be experienced by day as well as night for two truly unique experiences. During the day you’ll awe at all of the incredible details that make up this coaster which was assembled by Andy from his “Dash & Dodge Mega Coaster Kit.” Guests ride within Slink Dog’s coils, dipping, diving and dropping through the length and breadth of Toy Story Land. At night the ride absolutely dazzles with millions of incredible twinkling lights. Some of the rides peaks also offer Incredible views of Hollywood Studios and the upcoming Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge expansion.
Gourmet Pop Tarts and More at Woody’s Lunch Box
If you work up an appetite during your Toy Story Land visit be sure to mosey on over to Woody’s Lunch Box for some delicious and playful treats! Toy Stoy Land’s only quick-service eatery serves up a mighty delicious grilled cheese sandwich. Another highlight is the potato barrels smothered with nacho toppings! However, for us, the standout treat is the Lunch Box Tarts which are essentially Pop Tarts with a gourmet twist! There’s a chocolate hazelnut version featuring maple fondant and candied bacon. Or you may opt for the seasonal lemon blueberry tart which features lemon filling and blueberry frosting.
Find Stink Pete With the Play Disney Park App
One of our least favorite things about Toy Story Land is definitely the lines. However, Disney has introduced a fun way to pass the time via their Play Disney Parks App. For those unfamiliar with this fun Disney resource, it’s a great way for family and friends to add an extra element of fun to your visit with interactive activities and experiences. One of our favorite places to use the app is at Toy Story Mania! While in line you can utilize the “Playset Party” in-queue game. You’ll progress through a series of mini-games to assemble a Toy Story Mania playset. Once you finish all of them you should be on the lookout for Stinky Pete who will pop out to surprise you!
Early Morning Magic Toy Story Land
For those looking for a bit of extra ride time take advantage of these special early hours events. With the purchase of a special Disney Early Morning Magic experience and regular theme park admission, you can be the first to enter Hollywood Studios where you can enjoy some of your favorite Toy Story Land attractions without the lines including Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers and Toy Story Mania! For $79 per adult and $69 per child, the event also includes a delicious breakfast buffet with yogurt, fruit, pastries and a main entree! The event takes place on Select Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:30 AM to 8:45 AM. Breakfast will be served until 10 AM.
Instagram-Worthy Locations
Be sure to take some time and really explore all of the incredible details that make Toy Story Land come to life. From park benches made of popsicle sticks to the tinker toy statues scattered around the area. If you’re an active Instagrammer there’s also no shortage of amazing backdrops from Woody’s oversized lunchbox to a checkerboard backdrop you’ll find near the restrooms, to giant props like the Pixar ball. It pays to have those cameras at the ready at all times! You never know where you’ll find some photo inspiration!
Awesome Merch
The merchandise you’ll find at Toy Story Land is some of our favorites in ALL of the Walt Disney World. From awesome Slinky Dog and Alien mouse ears to models of the ride vehicles for both attractions and so much more. Though Toy Story Land doesn’t have a specific “gift shop” there are kiosks located in the land carrying a fun array of Pixar-themed items!
Encounter the Claw With Alien Swirling Saucer
If you love the little green aliens from Toy Story as much as we do then you won’t want to miss this family-friendly Toy Story Land attraction. Alien Swirling saucers puts you inside a playset won by Andy at Pizza Planet where you’ll swirl around in a rocket ship as the co-pilot to these friendly green fellas! This ride is fun for kids of all ages and the funny space-aged soundtrack with updates of some of your favorite songs is always a hit!
