Three Best Vegetarian Meals at Magic Kingdom
Disney is the gold standard for allergy-friendly and dietary restricted dining on vacation. You can read all about how accommodating the company is until you’re blue in the face, but until you witness first-hand just how important meeting guests’ dietary needs are to the chefs and wait staffs, it’s easy to overlook the massive efforts behind the operation. I myself eat a very specific diet, so if you’re looking for the best vegetarian meals at Magic Kingdom, there will be plenty of options for you!
On my most recent visit, I watched the executive chef at Liberty Tree Tavern make multiple trips to a table seating a family with allergy specifications. He not only took their order himself, he delivered the food himself to ensure every need was not only met, but exceeded expectations!
The Disney Parks do a great job of offering varying food options at their quick-service locations too. I don’t have allergies nor am I a vegetarian, but I follow a rigorous diet that makes eating in the Parks a frustrating and hunger-laden game…unless you know where to go! If you’re a vegetarian and struggle to find options at the Parks, look no further than this guide to where to eat at Magic Kingdom!
Breakfast
You can certainly head to Gaston’s Tavern for one of their gargantuan decadences- aka the largest cinnamon roll I’ve ever had the pleasure of chewing. If you’re hoping to use your early morning Park time to beat the crowds to the busy attractions, head to Sleepy Hollow instead! No, you don’t have to catch a plane to upstate New York, a quick walk to Liberty Square will do the trick!
I’m not sure a chocolate/hazelnut smothered waffle falls under the ‘healthy breakfast’ category, but the fresh slices of strawberry and banana definitely give all that gooey, chocolatey sweetness a balanced freshness. The waffle is definitely big enough to share between two people, and after you’ve finished you can absolutely say you started your day with a ‘balanced’ breakfast!
Lunch
Pinocchio’s Village Haus is THE place to seek refugee with kids in need of mealtime entertainment. Yes, without the hefty price tag of a character meal! Also a great place for an afternoon rest from the hot Florida sun, the windows overlooking the it’s a small world boat launch provide great (free) entertainment to anyone who’s lucky enough to snag a window table.
You definitely don’t have to be a vegetarian to enjoy a flatbread here, but those thin, crispy rectangles of goodness are a great option if you are! My vote is for the margarita-style flatbread featuring silver dollar-size chunks of mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, and a sweet balsamic glaze.
Dinner
Pecos Bill’s is the only quick serve restaurant to go to in Magic Kingdom when your appetite is out of control. Their unlimited, complimentary toppings bar is a great way to bulk up the already-large portion sizes they serve here. Believe it or not, although this Tex/Mex restaurant serves many meat dishes, here are two meat-free options on the menu!
Like I said, I’m not a vegetarian, but I’ve ordered the veggie rice bowl in the past, and it is just as hearty and filling as any meat-based meal on the menu! The rice makes a nice textured base while the black beans provide a slightly salty ,protein-packed contrast to the fresh veggies. I like to head to the toppings bar and add salsa and jalapeños and mix the whole thing up! That way, you get a bite of everything on each forkful, and I would bet you’ll leave feeling fueled for an evening filled with classic attractions and firework bursts over Cinderella Castle.
