November has officially arrived! That means we are a little over 2 weeks away from the 90th anniversary of Mickey Mouse’s debut in Steamboat Willie. Disney is pulling out all of the stops to celebrate the legacy of this much-loved character and cultural icon. Here are just a few of the ways that you can celebrate 90 years of Mickey!
Mickey’s 90th Birthday Spectacular:
We are just two days away from this star-studded celebration of Mickey on ABC. The show kicks off on Sunday, November 4 at 8PM EST. Celebrities coming out to wish Mickey a Happy Birthday include: Kristin Bell, Meghan Trainor and Leslie Odom Jr. just to name a few. The event was recorded at Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. We promise this will be an evening not-to-be-missed so be sure to set those DVRs.
Mickey: The True Original Exhibition:
From November 8, 2018 – February 10, 2019, visitors to New York City will have the opportunity to check out this fantastic exhibition celebration Mickey’s influence on art and popular culture. This colorful exhibition features 10 immersive rooms featuring works by twenty artists, sculptors, muralists and designers. Noteworthy artists taking part in this event include Kingdom Heart’s artist Tetsuya Nomura, photographer to the stars RANKIN, and yarn artist London Kaye. Celebrate at Disney Theme Parks Worldwide:
Disney Parks around the world are celebrating Mickey (and Minnie!) with special events including The World’s Biggest Mouse Party. This limited-time global celebration of Mickey and Minnie will officially kick off on November 18, 2018 and run well into 2019! In January Disneyland and Walt Disney World will kick off the New Year with special Mickey and Minnie confetti-inspired celebration outfits! So if you’re at the parks at the beginning of next year have your cameras at the ready to capture this dynamic duo dressed in their Birthday Party best!
Very Animated Birthday Special:
Fans of Disney Channel’s Mickey Mouse animated shorts won’t want to miss a debut of a special 7-minute birthday episode titled “Surprise!” which will air on November 18, 2018. Tune in to see how Mickey’s wish for a surprise free birthday ends up becoming a bigger surprise than he could’ve ever imagined.
Disney on Ice:
You don’t have to be near the theme parks to take part in Mickey’s 90th birthday celebrations. Get tickets for your local performances of Disney on Ice and you’ll be treated to a Mickey’s 90th pre-show celebration. Disney On Ice will be spanning the globe including United States, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

It wouldn’t be Mickey’s birthday without the release of some pretty fantastic Disney merchandise.
