The Real Reasons to Stay at Disney’s Pop Century
Many of the value resorts at Walt Disney World are in the process renovating the guest rooms. The most recent hotel to do this was Disney’s Pop Century. Although the hotel may look the same on the outside, the rooms have drastically changed on the inside. This renovation of all the rooms has turned the feel of a value resort to a luxury resort.
What You Walk On
When you walk into a guest room at Disney’s Pop Century, you will notice a major difference right away. The floors were previously carpet. Not just any carpet though – these floors used to be a colored patterned carpet, giving off a very 70s/80s/90s vibe. Although this may have been cool back then, and is fitting with the “Pop Century” theme, these colored carpets did not have the luxury feel of hotels these days. It almost made the room feel like a dirty motel with all the other older features.

On the bright side, this colored patterned carpet have now been upgraded to a nice, sleek wood flooring with white tile in the bathrooms. The wood flooring is the same color and style as the rest of the wood items in the room – the platform and headboard of the bed, the table, the night stands and the dresser. Since none of the wood clashes, the room feels very clean, organized and simple.
The renovated guest rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort give off a true modern feel, but almost have a 70s look within the decorations. When you first walk in the room, you’ll notice that it is very spacious. The reason for this is that one of the beds has been tucked away into the wall, leaving room for a table. At night time, this bed can easily be pulled down and the table transforms into the support for the queen bed.

The other queen bed always stays on the floor. If you only have one or two people in your party, you may never have to pull down the bed and can always use it as a table! The night stands are connected to the corner of the beds and offer plugs with USB ports, making the charging easy. The lamps are attached to the wall, allowing more space on the night stands, and the large flat screen TV is attached to the wall as well.
Disney’s Pop Century Decor
The decoration throughout the room is very simple. It has hints of Disney here and there, but the main Disney decoration is the retro painting of Disney characters on the wall. The room has lots of whites, woods, and surprisingly oranges. The drapes have orange polka dots that fade into white, matching the white bedspreads.
Orange is accented very well throughout the room – whether it is the color of the frame on the wall, the color of the door, or even if it’s the handle on the sliding door to the bathroom. This sliding door is a very nice addition, as all Pop Century had before was a curtain separating the bathroom and guest room.

Bathrooms are a space that can make it or break it. Many Disney hotels have the same style bathroom. Whether it be a deluxe, moderate or value resort, all of the showers and toilets were always the same. Disney’s Pop Century has changed the game when they renovated their rooms. The bathrooms now have the most luxurious feel out of all of them – and yes, these bathrooms are even better than the deluxe resort bathrooms.
The showers include two, very nice modern showerheads as well as a sliding glass door rather than the previous shower curtain. These bathrooms allow for much more light than the dimly lit bathrooms Pop Century had before. The sink in the bathroom also gives of a luxurious vibe as it actually extends from the counter. The counter has tons of storage space – to put it into perspective, it feels like a bathroom countertop from Ikea.

Overall, the guest rooms at Disney’s Pop Century have changed the game for Disney resort hotels. Although it is a value resort, the rooms inside Pop Century pretty much surpass the rooms at the rest of the resorts. We’re excited to see what’s to come with Disney hotels in the future. We know more is coming soon as we’re constantly driving past the renovations happening at Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs! Maybe they will get the same look as Disney’s Pop Century guest rooms!
