Everything You Need to Know About the Play Disney Parks App
I can’t count how many times I’ve opted to skip favorite attractions when the stand by line is too long to justify. Hey don’t get me wrong, I’m well aware that I’m visiting the most popular theme parks in the world and I’m not adverse to waiting in line- I expect it! It might not seem it, but the different between a 45 minute wait and a 60+ minute wait is when casual family conversation turns into a trial of patience, tempers running short, and anytime I see an attraction creep close or above an hour is when I choose to skip it. This was all before the newly released Play Disney Parks App!
Just in time for the busy summer season, Disney has released what everyone is hoping will be that bit of magic that will make those long waits zip by, the Play Disney Parks App! The brand new application (for iPhone and Android) debuted just a few days ago at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts is the answer our technologically obsessed world has been missing. What’s the buzz? Let’s find out!
Make Wait Times Zip By
Interactive games available on the app will make those long wait times seem much more bearable, and with countless options to try your hand at, you’ll really never run out of options. I’m all about family time when vacation time rolls around, and if you’re concerned that your kids spend most of their trip with their eyes glued to their screens, the Play Disney Parks app seems like a great tool for encouraging family bonding! There are attraction-specific games (I can’t wait to try out the galactic training game at Space Mountain) that obviously differ from queue to queue, and with unlockable achievements and score counting, the app will keep track of your best scores and reward you for your accomplishments.
Sing Your Way Through the Parks
This feature I can get behind! I’m a huge fan of Disney music, and a large part of my experience revolves around the sounds just as heavily as the sights. Imagine riding the Haunted Mansion without “Grim Grinning Ghosts”, and what would “Soarin’” be without that fantastic score? With the new app, guests can access specially created playlists to access while in the parks…and even after they’ve returned home! Through this collaboration with Apple Music, you’ll be humming your way down Main Street USA!
Family Trivia
Be honest, is your family device dependent? Symptoms include, but are not limited to: abruptly falling silent, loss of interest, diluted pupils, inability to carry on conversation, and early onset arthritis of the thumbs. Getting the youngest members of your family to power down is likely impossible, but the Play Disney Parks App has created a series of trivia games that can’t be played solo, so now is your chance to team up with your favorite gamer and square off in friendly competition with your family! I’ve played “Heads Up” more than a few times while trying to pass a long attraction queue line, and I can’t wait to up the family trivia ante with Disney-themed trivia and learn new facts about the Parks. Do you think playing games in a queue is a good way to pass the time? Will you try to get the whole family in on the action, or will you use the app for some quiet solo time? Let us know in the comments!

I missed whether “Play Disney Parks” app was free or is there a charge? It would be best if the free/charge info was included in any review
