5 Reasons Why You Need to Eat at Chef Mickey’s
On each of my three trips to Walt Disney World, I couldn’t wait for one tasty part – when it was our turn to dine at Chef Mickey’s, an all-you-can-eat buffet at Disney’s Contemporary Resort . When I booked our first trip, our kids were small – 8, 7 and 4 to be exact, and everyone said, you must take them to eat at Chef Mickey’s.
I’m not typically the kind to follow what everyone else is doing, but I made reservations anyway. It was one of the best decisions I made for our Disney vacation. Here are five reasons why you should make reservations too!
1. Your taste buds will love you
So. Much. Food. But it’s not even about quantity, it’s about quality. I love prime rib and theirs was melt-in-your-mouth perfect. I won’t admit to how many times I went back on line. At Chef Mickey’s, you can choose from a breakfast, brunch or dinner menu with mouth-watering selections for all tastes, including carved ham, pancakes, create-your-own-waffles, carved pork tenderloin with apple chutney, macaroni and cheese, roasted chicken, pot stickers, seafood paella, pot roast, and Minnie’s sweets and treats such as donut holes and muffins. If you aren’t already drooling and making reservations, read the next reason why.
2. Your kids will love you
A visit to Disney with your children is nothing if you aren’t meeting some of their lovable, famous characters. Waiting on lines at the park for a chance or a glimpse might work, but a reservation at Chef Mickey’s practically guarantees that you’ll meet many of them, including Chef Mickey himself. Bring your autograph book, because Donald, Minnie, Pluto, and Goofy – dressed as chefs — also make appearances. Your children will be smiling from ear to ear from the moment they sit down until they finish dessert. It’s definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
3. Your inner child will love you
Don’t think that the Fab Five Disney characters are just there to visit with the little ones. They will visit with you too at Chef Mickey’s. Soak up the experience and enjoy meeting the characters. Take photos, get autographs and smile!
4. Chef Mickey will love you
At Chef MIckey’s, the master chef will make appearances and probably thank you for eating at his fine establishment. What’s better than that?
5. Your feet will love you
Chef Mickey’s is located in Disney’s Contemporary Resort, which is right near Magic Kingdom. So, while you don’t have to combine it with your trip to the park, it does make it convenient and a great way to end a great day.
The most important thing you need to remember about a dining experience at Chef Mickey’s is that it’s a popular establishment and this character meet-and-greet can book up months in advance.
Here’s a tip. Make your reservations six months in advance of your arrival date. So, if you’re planning a trip for November, call the Chef Mickey’s reservation line in June…ore better yet, contact a travel agent that specializes in Disney, like MickeyTravels, and they’ll do it for you! For free! Waiting until you arrive to make reservations might leave you, er…the kids…seriously disappointed when you…um, they…can’t get in.
The cost of Chef Mickey’s buffet per person ranges from $35 to $59.99 per person and some dining plans are accepted.
