Why Coronado Springs is my favorite Disney World Resort!
“Coronado Springs” is not usually the response I hear when I ask someone which resort is his or her favorite at Disney World. But it’s definitely my favorite – and I’ll tell you why! Disney’s Coronado Springs is a moderate-level resort that fits all of my family’s needs while on a Disney world Vacation – You’re not going to want to miss out on all of its amazing amenities. Here’s why it is my favorite:
The Food
Yes, this is my first reason. No matter what resort or hotel you’re at, food options matter! Disney’s Coronado Springs has two table service restaurants (Maya Grill and Las Ventanas), one quick-service food court style restaurant (Pepper Market), an indoor lounge (Rix Lounge), an outdoor lounge (Laguna Bar), a pool bar (Siestas Cantina), and a grab-and-go area that includes fancy desserts and a coffee bar (Café Rix). For my family, high quality, quick service, moderately priced food is a must-have. That’s exactly what you will find at Pepper Market, where we especially love the Mexican food menu! And for my husband and I, a pool bar and a coffee bar are much appreciated! I’m pretty sure these two things, along with the hot tub, are our top three reasons for loving Coronado Springs.
The Dig Site
The Coronado Springs main pool is awesome. It’s in an area called “the Dig Site” where there are lots of outdoor activities for families. The main pool is huge – there are plenty of lounge chairs, a 123-foot water slide, a 50-foot imitation of a Mayan pyramid, and have I mentioned the pool bar? The hot tub is also the largest hot tub on Disney World property. This is a great spot to go at the end of the night before the pool bar closes! Grab a drink and relax in the hot tub for some adult time. There are also three leisure pools that tend to be quieter located throughout the resort.
The Workout Options
I know it’s vacation, but some may still want to fit in their workouts. My husband Nate and I like to run races, and Nate likes to do triathlons (I prefer to watch the triathlons!). The summer Nate was training for an IRONMAN, one of the three leisure pools on property was a lifesaver. That’s because it was a lap pool! The lap pool is definitely a plus for swimmers, triathletes, or runners needing a good cross-train after spending so much time on their feet in the parks. For other cardio and weight lifting, Disney’s Coronado Springs is the only moderate resort that has a fitness center, La Vida Health Club. There’s also a jogging trail that’s just less than one mile. And for something a bit more fun and entertaining – there’s a sand volleyball court right by the Dig Site!
The Future
Coronado Springs is beautiful. Its Southwestern theme is apparent everywhere you look, from the lobby and buildings to the pools, lake, and landscaping. But what’s more exciting is what’s on the way for Coronado Springs. By 2018, Coronado Springs will include a new 15-story tower that will have suite-style rooms and concierge services. The best part about this addition is that Disney plans to include rooftop dining here with a view of nearby firework shows from the parks. I can’t wait for this memorable experience!
