Kat Coiro In Talks To Serve As Director and Executive Producer For She-Hulk
Director Kat Coiro is reportedly in talks with Marvel Studios to serve as Director/Executive Producer for the upcoming Disney+ series She Hulk. This was confirmed in an article out today by Variety. According to sources Coiro will direct the pilot as well as other episodes in the series. She will be joining Jessica Gao (Rick and Morty) who was previously announced as the showrunner for the project.
For those following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that Kevin Feige announced She-Hulk was coming to Disney’s streaming network during the D23 fan expo. It joins other Marvel projects including Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki. These projects are in various stages of production but have all experienced some sort of delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Disney also has other projects in the pipeline that includes Hawkeye, Ms Marvel and Moon Knight for Disney+.
There has been a TON of buzz around She-Hulk which has been a favorite with Marvel fans since the character first appeared back in 1980. In the comics, Jennifer Walters is a cousin of Bruce Banner. She inherits his Hulk-ing powers after she receives a blood transfusion from him. However, unlike Bruce, when she transforms into Jennifer she is much the same person and very much in control. She’s just bigger, stronger and let’s not forget GREEN!
Along with She-Hulk Disney+ has a few other Marvel projects in the works including Hawkeye, Ms Marvel and Moon Knight.
In terms of Coiro, she got her start directing the 2011 comedy Life Happens starring Krysten Ritter,. She also worked on projects including The Mickey, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Single Parents and Dead to Me. Her most current project is Marry Me for Universal starring Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson and Sarah Silverman. The film is slated to debut in February 2021.
