Zac Efron To Star In ‘Three Men and a Baby’ Remake
Yup! You read that correctly! According to a recent piece in The Hollywood Report former Disney star Zac Efron has his name attached to a remake of the 1980’s hit Three Men and a Baby.
Gordon Gray of the recent Ben Affleck flick – The Way Back has apparently signed on to produce the project.
Three Men and a Baby was an absolute sensation back in 1987 and starred Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson as a trio of New York City bachelors who find themselves caring for and ultimately become completely smitten with a baby. Oh, and then there’s the whole drug dealers who threaten the child sup-plot. And oddly enough the film was directed by Leonard Nimoy. It went on to become a major hit and gross over $100 million domestically. It prompted a sequel Three Men and a Little Lady which saw the cast return but not Nimoy.
According to the reports, the remake is being slated for Disney+. Will Reichel has written the script for the remake but so fare there haven’t been any insights into how it might be updated. According to the piece in THR, a director has not yet been found for the project.
Efron signing up for Three Men marks a return to Disney for the actor who is best known for his role as Trey Bolton in High School Musical. Since his time as a teen Disney heartthrob, he has spent time working on a variety of movie and television projects. Most recently he garnered some fantastic reviews for his turn as serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. He also starred opposite Matthew McConaughey in the comedy The Beach Bum. You can also see what he’s been up to by tuning into Down to Earth on Netflix where he roams the world exploring sustainability.
This is a project that we will of course be following closely! Readers are encouraged to keep checking in with us for further news and updates!
