Safety Upgrades to The Magic Kingdom’s Emporium
The Mickey Blog team is on the case as previews begin at Walt Disney World.
This morning, as the squad entered “The Emporium,” it was clear that the shop — modeled after a 19th-century mercantile — now has some very 21st Century enhancements.
Obviously, the changes address the many safety and social distancing worries necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
First Hand Photos
The photos below really illustrate what Walt Disney World described in their “Know Before You Go” sections dedicated to opening the park during the current health situation.
However, the photos speak to the “Physical Distancing” section, particularly:
Temporary adjustments will be in place to promote physical distancing.
Physical distancing measures may include:
- Signage and Ground Markings: Please follow directional signage and ground markings, which have been installed throughout Walt Disney World Resort to help Guests better navigate common areas while practicing physical distancing.
- Physical Barriers: Physical barriers have been added in select places where it is difficult to maintain strict physical distancing guidelines. These may be visible in areas around cash registers or at Guest Relations, for example, to help promote proper distances between people.
- Training: We are also training Cast Members to engage with Guests and promote physical distancing guidelines in common areas and queues.

Also important to note that Disney facemasks are being sold behind the counters.
