Celebrate Earth Week With #DisneyMagicofNature
Just because you’re stuck at home doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate Earth Day and Disney is here to inspire you! This Wednesday, March 22nd marks the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day – a holiday dedicated to paying tribute to and protecting our planet.
To celebrate this week, Disney will be showing you how they care for animals the world over at both the theme parks (like Animal Kingdom) and through the Disney Conservation Fund (which is also celebrating its 25th Anniversary this Earth Day.)
Beginning on Tuesday (April 21st) Disney will be releasing a new “Wilderness Explorers At Home” series. It will highlight fun and easy ways to experience the magic of nature from your own backyard!
All you need to do is log into the My Disney Experience mobile app, enable push notifications and you’re ready to go!
National Geographic is also offering an Earth Day Neighborhood Safari activity that you can download at home. Simply visit NatGeo@Home. This new virtual basecamp will enhance your spirit of exploration and adventure allowing you to learn more via daily talks with “real-life” National Geographic Explorers.
Earth Day will also mark the debut of two new television specials: “Jane Goodall: The Hope” and “Born Wild The Next Generation.” There will also be a daylong marathon of natural history programming and talks with renowned National Geographic photographers. You can dive into an incredible array of Earth Day content by visiting NatGeo.com and NatGeoAtHome.com.
As we previously mentioned here on MickeyBlog, in addition to the awesome programs outlined above, the Disney Channel also collaborated National Geographic on several short interstitials that will be run on Disney Channel throughout the day. These short videos highlight the animal care and conservation efforts at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World.
In addition, the Disney Channel will feature a day of environmental-themed movies and shows including “Bunk’d,” “Big City Greens,” and much-loved DisneyNature documentaries including “Penguins” and “Born in China”
Finally, we recommend you visit the Disney Now app for a special Earth Day Collection including a 10-minute extended version of the interstitials outlined above.
Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for more awesome ways to celebrate nature on Earth Week 2020.
