“Imagineering In A Box” With Khan Academy
In this time of COVID-19 school closures, teachers around the county have gotten creative in finding online enrichment for students. In sometimes just 24 hours, teachers have managed to completely change the way they deliver instruction and find new ways to provide curriculum. They have found creative answers to problems…just like Imagineers.
In 2019, Khan Academy, an online resource for all kinds of subjects, partnered with Disney to create “Imagineering in a box”. The projects are inspired by all Disney guests who have dreamed of creating their own theme park.
It is a free online curriculum that brings together the talents of Disney Imagineers with a “commitment to helping today’s youth create the future they imagine.”
“Imagineering in a box” offers 32 videos in which Imagineers share how they use a wide range of skills – from story development and conceptual design, to math, physics and engineering – to create immersive experiences. The online curriculum aims to ignite curiosity, inspire creativity, and encourage innovation in the minds of students and teachers alike, while creating fun and engaging opportunities to explore new concepts. The modules range from tutorials on engineering software to creative assignments. These modules are adaptive and hands-on for any child at their level.
