Everything You Need to Know About Christopher Robin
“Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world” – Walt Disney.
When Walt Disney famously proclaimed that his park would never be complete, he knew his statement could and would never backfire…and so far he couldn’t have been more correct. Since his death, countless great minds have stepped up to the plate in his absence and have turned simple, intangible ideas into immersive worlds where guests come to play each and every day, and the Imagineers show no sign of slowing down! Imagination is the foundation of The Walt Disney Company…so what happens when it disappears?
Losing your imagination…for Disney fans and the folks behind the magic, there isn’t a scarier notion. Winnie the Pooh was welcomed into the Disney family back in 1966 for his charisma, loveable stories, and above all else, because he was created in the mind of a young boy named Christopher Robin. This summer, the newest Disney film follows Christopher through his adult life, and it doesn’t take long before we learn that growing up has stripped Christopher not only of his old friendships, but of the imagination that made them a reality. Will Pooh be able to jog his memory? We’re going to have to wait to find out, but to make the wait for the new film speed by, let’s explore how you can get in the right mindset to travel to the Hundred Acre Woods with Pooh, Eeyore, Rabbit, and of course, Christopher Robin at Walt Disney World Resort!
Dine With the Gang
The Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom has long been one of the most sought-after character dining meals on property. I can remember all the way back to when I was a toddler and my family took a big vacation to Walt Disney World and the talk of the entire journey to the Resort revolved around our Crystal Palace reservation! Everyone was so jazzed that we were going to be eating in the Magic Kingdom in the glass-top, foliage-filled, natural light-flooded restaurant that the character experience was almost secondary. ALMOST!
Not only is The Crystal Palace’s architecture and all-you-care-to-enjoy a major draw…it’s also a character dining experience full of rare characters you won’t find anywhere else! Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and their pals from the forest are on hand for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and it’s the only character dining experience that features pals from the Winnie the Pooh arsenal. If you’re traveling with someone not too keen on character autographs and photos, tell them that The Crystal Palace is an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet; they won’t need further convincing!
Fantasmic! Feature
Fantasmic! is my all time favorite nighttime show at Walt Disney World, and I’ve seen it so many times now that I can practically recite the script from beginning to end. Ok you caught me, I CAN recite the whole show, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I can also pick out tiny nuances from the show that most (normal) people miss. I always thought that the moment that Winnie the Pooh floats by on the water screen adorably eating from a pot of honey was one of those moments, but the last time I saw the show, my friend said that one of her favorite moments was Winnie’s moment in the spotlight!
Meet the Bear Behind the Dreams
Early in the morning, just after rope drop, Main Street USA is as pure and as idealistic as it was on opening day in 1971. Horse drawn carriages parade down the street, antique cars take a spin around Town Square, a big trolley carries singers through the Park, and classic Disney characters come out for photos at the foot of the flagpole. It’s never a guarantee, so don’t make any promises to youngsters, but I have seen Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore making the rounds to greet their hoards of fans on more than one occasion!
If you have a little fan who is dying to meet his or her favorite characters from the Hundred Acre Wood, take them to Fantasyland where Tigger and Pooh will be more than happy to meet with you. Bring them to the character spot located right next to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh for their chance to hug the cuddly bear for themselves.
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
The best and most immersive way to get you and your family ready for the new film is to revisit the world that Christopher Robin’s once-vivid imagination created. This attraction is great because you can take the entire family aboard, even the tiniest of guests are welcome with an adult! Since family-friendly attractions that welcome such small infants aren’t exactly commonplace, the queue can get pretty lined up. If you couldn’t get a FastPass+ reservation or chose to use yours for other attractions, the interactive queue line is one of the best at holding the attention of hot and antsy kids, and once you make it to the slow-flowing honey walls, you’re going to have a hard time pulling them away from the gooey fun!
See the Film
You’ve dined, photographed, seen, and ridden through the Hundred Acre Wood with Pooh and all his friends, and I think you’re more than ready to catch a screening of Christopher Robin! Look no further than the Disney Springs AMC- it’s a great place to enjoy dinner and a movie, Disney Springs-style! Can’t make it to Walt Disney World for the premiere? That’s ok, we want to know where you will watch from! Let us know in the comments below!
