Fun Things to Do In and Around World Showcase
Epcot is home to some of the most exciting attractions on Walt Disney World property, Soarin’, Test Track and Mission Space, but there are times where a leisurely trip around the world is the relaxing pace you need.
Recently, my husband and I decided to visit Epcot and we made a plan to only spend time in World Showcase. We realized that we spend so much time getting FastPasses for popular attractions in Future World, we were neglecting attractions in World Showcase. As we made our way into the park, we headed directly for World Showcase to begin our world tour.
Club Cool
We did make one stop in Future World at Club Cool. If you have never heard of Club Cool, then you are in for a treat. Club Cool is a place where you can purchase Coca-Cola logo merchandise, sample sodas from around the world, and is also a nice place to cool off after that long trek from the parking lot. You can sample flavors like Mezzo Mix from Germany to Beverly from Italy. Beverly will become a huge conversation piece amongst your family and friends. If you’ve never tried it before . . . well, I’ll let you see for yourself.
Mexico or Canada?
Once your thirst has been quenched, make your way to the entrance of World Showcase and take in the view of the World Showcase Lagoon. This is also the stage for the nighttime show Illuminations. Your tour can start to the left with Mexico or to the right with Canada. Your tour depends on how you want to plan your day. We were lucky enough to get FastPasses to the “Frozen Ever After” ride in Norway we had four hours until the start of our FastPass. Since Norway is right next to Mexico, we veered to the left and started at Canada.
O’ Canada!
Most people usually pass by Canada and don’t realize that there is an attraction inside. Granted it is not an excitement-filled, speed racing attraction like Test Track, but it gives you more insight to the country of Canada with an awesome video featuring, Martin Short. Canada is not the only country with featured attractions. The American Adventure houses a 29-minute film depicting moments in American history and Mexico has a tranquil boat ride with the “Three Caballeros” keeping you entertained.
Fish & Chips or Ice Cream?
If you are looking for a quick lunch, indulge yourself at the Yorkshire County Fish Ship in the United Kingdom where you can eat some of the best Fish & Chips. You can also make your way to France to Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie,a little bistro positioned in the corner with an amazing Croque Monsieur. After you have downed your awesome lunch, treat yourself with a little dessert at L’Artisan des Glaces with ice cream and sorbets that are out-of-this-world.
Frozen Ever After
Now, I could go on forever telling you about the many experiences at World Showcase, but you really should visit them yourself. This is just the tip of the iceberg which is an awesome segue to the main attraction and the finale of our world tour, “Frozen Ever After”. “Frozen Ever After” replaced the original Norway ride “Maelstrom”. If you add this attraction to your list of must-sees, it is well worth the wait.
There were several countries I, unfortunately, had to leave out, but can revisit another time. “Traveling” through the World Showcase at Epcot was one of best experiences we have ever had at Disney. Also, if you’re here during the fall, there’s always the Food & Wine Festival, but. . . I think I’ll leave for another day.
