Marvel Released Leaked Fake ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Rumors To Keep the Film’s Cameos a Secret
With Deadpool & Wolverine set to hit theaters in just two days, months of speculation about what characters will be popping up in the movie will come to an end.
While the relationship between Ryan Reynold’s Merc with the Mouth and Hugh Jackman’s iconic X-Man is at the heart of the upcoming Deadpool film, the movie is also set to bridge the gap between the Fox X-Men movies and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

In the months leading up to the film’s release, speculation has run rampant about what characters will be reprising their roles in Deadpool & Wolverine. While some cameos, including Aaron Stanford’s Pyro, Dafne Keen’s X-23, and Tyler Mayne’s Sabertooth, have been confirmed in the film’s promotional material, other cameos, such as Halle Berry’s Storm, Patrick Stewart’s Professor Xavier, and even a potential Taylor Swift appearance continue to be rumored.
Marvel Leaked Fake ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Rumors
In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Deadpool & Wolverine executive producer Wendy Jacobson explained that Marvel went to great lengths to keep the film’s cameos a secret.
“There may or may not have been some subterfuge and misdirections on the internet or in-person in order to protect the secrecy,” she said.

While it is no secret that Marvel carefully edited the Deadpool & Wolverine trailers to keep certain characters a surprise, the idea that they would spread false rumors as a misdirect is very interesting.
The Cameos Fit the Story
As for which characters made the film’s final cut, Jacobson was not giving anything away. She did explain, however, that the film’s cameos enhance the story.

“I can neither confirm nor deny any cameos in this film but I will say, in terms of characters that may or may not appear, it was always important to us that nothing in this movie feels like a gimmick,” she said.
“Anyone showing up has a crucial story purpose or a beginning, middle, and end as a character arc. It was definitely a collaborative process of seeing who fit in and who didn’t.”
