Remember when MickeyBlog visited Disney’s new private island, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point? Our staff had an amazing time as some of the first to step on the island.
Beyond the signature Disney fun, incredible beaches, and exciting adventures, this island paradise boasts a unique feature – stunning, locally designed art that will capture your heart.
Bahamian Art on Display
Talented Bahamian artists have woven the spirit and natural wonders of the Bahamas into the fabric of Disney Lookout Cay. Permanent art installations including sculptures and paintings are scattered throughout the island destination.
The Lookout Cay Artists
Let’s meet some of the artists.
As you arrive, a towering sculpture by Antonius Roberts greets you. Crafted from a fallen tree found on the property itself, it’s a remarkable display of artistic vision and environmental consciousness.
You can see that the exterior doors throughout the island are adorned with wood carvings inspired by Andret John’s designs.
Next, take in the breathtaking landscapes of Eleuthera through Kevin Cooper’s paintings displayed at the Goombay Cultural Center and the cabanas.
Edrin Symonette’s sculptures, scattered throughout the Cay, will keep you connected to the beauty of nature with their use of mixed media.
Those eye-catching murals on the buildings? They’re replications of the original works by renowned painter Dorman Stubbs.
Lastly, gaze up at the dining pavilions and discover land and sea-inspired art by Kishan Munroe an interdisciplinary artist.
A Celebration of Bahamian Culture
Each artist’s work is a testament to the talent and spirit of The Bahamas. As you explore Disney Lookout Cay, take a moment to appreciate these special pieces.
They each showcase the magic of both the islands and the artists themselves.
