Last Sunday, after I’d already put MickeyBlog News into the publisher, Disney accidentally leaked the opening date of its newest ride.
Someone at Disney appears to have made the dreaded AM/PM mistake, the one that’s made you late for work/school many times.

A social media post that should have accompanied American Idol instead went live 12 hours earlier.
MickeyBlog alertly updated with the breaking news, and some forward-thinking person on our staff kept the receipts, too.

Press Release
So, we had the proof regarding the ride’s opening date even after the social media post went poof.
After American Idol aired, we once again knew the truth. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will finally arrive on June 28th.
That’s five weeks and two days from today, May 19th. As has become the norm at Disney, some can experience it sooner.
Annual passholders will start splashing down on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on June 13th!

Disney has confirmed previews for June 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 18th, and 20th for annual passholders.
Our Jess Landers notes that this preview booking system will work differently from previous ones.

“Instead of scheduling a preview date/time in advance, Annual Passholders will need to join the preview virtual queue on an individual date.”
In a different update, she listed seven things you should know before riding Tiana’s Bayou Journey.

Our own Justin Hermes added some information about how the annual passholder previews will work.
Another important mention is that Disney has surprised us with one aspect of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Tiana’s Update
This attraction will join Disney Genie+ and use a virtual queue when it opens rather than selling Lightning Lanes.
I had just indicated the other day that I fully expected Lightning Lane instead.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom
First, let’s acknowledge that Park Passes have already sold out at Magic Kingdom for June 28th.
You don’t need Park Passes with date-based tickets now, but annual passholders still require reservations.

At this moment, June 28th is the only date without reservations available.
You can avoid this nonsense by targeting one of the preview dates for annual passholders instead.
Also, remember that Park Hopping is an option, presuming Magic Kingdom accepts new guests that afternoon.
Next, if you’re a Disney Vacation Club member like me, you can try Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on June 12th and June 19th.

Understand that registration is already available for these dates, and if they haven’t sold out yet, they will SOON!
Please act quickly to avoid being shut out. Also, remember that DVC members only have three-hour windows during those previews.

To a larger point, you can tell that the day is fast approaching, as Disney’s digital maps now list Tiana’s Bayou Adventure with its opening date.

Figment bus
This week’s update will be abbreviated because I’ve been under the weather.
Still, you should know about a few Disney items. For instance, there’s a new Figment bus at Walt Disney World!

Who wouldn’t get excited about a park visit upon seeing that smiling face approaching?! This might be my favorite bus overlay yet.
Disney has also revealed new details about the upcoming drone show coming to Disney Springs.
Disney Dreams That Soar, Presented by AT&T will debut on May 24th, which means it’ll be a topic of next week’s news update.
As a reminder, there are some drone show horror stories out there, but Disney has been doing them for a while at international parks.
This Disney Springs offering will give guests a reason to exit the parks and spend the night at the dining and shopping mecca.
Meanwhile, Central Florida locals can watch a show without having to visit the parks, which strikes me as a nice gesture from Disney.

NBC News
While I haven’t recapped it yet (and may not), Bob Iger spoke at the MoffettNathanson’s Media, Internet & Communications Conference the other day.
Disney executives often appear at this annual event, and their Q&A sessions are typically engaging. This one…wasn’t.

Bob Iger – 2024 Annual Shareholder Meeting
Iger didn’t offer anything new, but he did state the obvious that the parks would be leaning into the Moana franchise.
That’s like Dua Lipa saying she’ll sing “Levitating” at her concert. Yes. We know.
