Bob Iger To Speak at WSJ Magazine Tech Live and Features on Cover of October Issue
Walt Disney Company’s chairman and CEO Bob Iger continues with his media blitz! Reports have just come out that he will join the likes of supermodel Naomi Campbell and actress Demi Moore at Wall Street Journal Magazine’s Tech Live in Laguna Beach, California. The Tech Event will take place from October 21- October 23rd.
In addition, Bob Iger appears on one of three covers of WSJ’s October issue. Iger, whose new book on leadership, The Ride of a Lifetime, came out September 23, has helmed Disney for 15 years. In that time, he has overseen the entertainment company’s shift to becoming a tech-forward media giant while managing blockbuster deals and responses to national tragedies.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Iger, 68, exudes the unflappability that shareholders look for in a captain of industry. But his new book reveals another side of the CEO, drawing back the curtain on moments that shook the business leader—from a messy succession battle following Michael Eisner’s retirement to the heartbreaking aftermath of the Pulse nightclub shooting, which counted two Disney employees as victims. Through it all, Iger has aspired to adapt his business at the breathtaking speed the modern economy requires. In the book’s appendix, an aphoristic collection of leadership lessons, he advises: “Now more than ever: innovate or die.”
WSJ Tech Live is an event the features tech’s most ambitious minds on stage and on the record. The event will focus on candid interviews, off-stage discussions and premier networking opportunities. Formerly known as D.Live the even is unfortunately by invitation only and will take place on October 21 – 23, 2019 with Iger’s appearance happening on October 22.
