Welcome back to our continuing journey through the history of The Walt Disney Company. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- November 4.
November 4 was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured the loss of a Disney Legend, the release of an animated film, and the debut of a new Marvel superhero. So, let’s get started!
Donald’s Golf Game Released (1938)
On this day in 1938, the Donald Duck cartoon Donald’s Golf Game was released.
In the cartoon, Donald needs silence to concentrate on his golf game, but Huey, Dewey, and Louie keep making noise.
Sheep Dog Released (1949)
On this day in 1949, Sheep Dog was released.
In the short, Pluto must protect sheep from hungry coyotes.
Disney Announces the Cypress Point Lodge (1982)
On this day in 1982, Disney announced that they would be building the Cypress Point Lodge at Walt Disney World.
While the resort would never be built, Disney would later reuse the concept for Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
Five Mile Creek Debuts (1983)
On this day in 1983, Five Mile Creek debuted on the Disney Channel.
The series followed the adventures on a stagecoach line in the wilds of 19th-century Australia.
Roger Broggie Passes Away (1991)
On this day in 1991, Disney Legend Roger Broggie passed away.
Broggie worked at the company for 50 years, helping to create many of the ride systems and vehicles for Disneyland.
ABC Soap Opera Bistro Closes (2002)
On this day in 2002, the ABC Soap Opera Bistro closed at Disney’s California Adventure.
The restaurant had been open since February of 2001.
Chicken Little Opens (2005)
On this day in 2005, Chicken Little opened in theaters.
The computer-animated film was loosely based on the fable The Sky is Falling and starred Zach Braff in the titular role.
Doctor Strange Opens (2016)
On this day in 2016, Doctor Strange opened.
The film starred Benedict Cumberbatch as neurosurgeon Stephen Strange who eventually becomes the Sorcer Supreme.
Mickey’s 90th Spectacular Aires (2018)
On this day in 2018, Mickey’s 90th Spectacular aired on ABC.
The special featured musical performances, tributes, and never-before-seen short films.
Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Stage Adaptation Opens (2021)
On this day in 2021, Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Stage Adaptation opened at the Hundred Acre Wood Theatre in New York City.
The new musical featured a three-foot-tall Pooh, Christopher Robin, and their Hundred Acre Woods friends.
