Welcome back to our magical journey through DIsney history. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- July 6.
July 6th was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured the beginning of the Disney Studios, the closing of an EPCOT attraction, and the release of a Marvel sequel. So, let’s get going!
Walt and Roy Put A Deposit on Hyperion Lot (1925)
On this day in 1925, Walt and Roy Disney put down a $400 deposit on a lot at 2719 Hyperion Ave., in the Silver Lake district of Los Angeles, California.
The lot would eventually be home to the first Disney Studio, where Disney would be headquartered for the next 15 years.
Disney’s Symphonic Fantasy Opens (1993)
On this day in 1993, Disney’s Symphonic Fantasy opened at the Metropolitan Opera House at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City.
The show featured the American Symphony Orchestra and showcased Disney characters and music.
Captain EO Closes (1994)
On this day in 1994, Captain EO closed at EPCOT.
The 3D film starring Michael Jackson had originally opened on September 12, 1986.
Pirates in the Big Apple Takes Place (2006)
On this day in 2006, The World of Disney in New York City hosted Pirates in the Big Apple.
The new event was held to celebrate the opening of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure Opens (2012)
On this day in 2012, Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure opened in Epcot.
The interactive game inspired by the Disney Channel animated series Phineas and Ferb allowed guests to play themed missions around World Showcase.
Ant-Man and the Wasp Released (2018)
On this day in 2018, Ant-Man and the Wasp was released.
A sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man, the film starred Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Douglas. In the film, Scott Lang must battle a new foe and help save Hope’s mother from the Quantum Realm.
