Disney Makes Adjustments to Communications and Public Relations Departments Amidst Layoffs
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that one of the big stories of the past month has been the layoffs happening within the Walt Disney Company. It is estimated that Disney has let nearly 7,000 go. As a result and according to a recent piece in Variety, the cuts have made it necessary for Disney to shake things up, particularly within their Communications and Public Relations Department.
In leadership, we noticed that Shari Rosenblum is NOW a Senior VP of Publicity for Disney Television Studios and oversees talent and events across 20th Television, 20th Animation, and ABC Signature. Rosenblum has been with the company for nearly two decades overseeing some big projects like Modern Family, The Dropout, and Homeland.
Rosenblum now reports to Candice Ashton, senior vice president of publicity and events. for Hulu Originals and Disney Television Studios. According to Variety, other noteworthy changes in PR and Comms at the Walt Disney Company include:
- Richard Hormann will be moving to a new role overseeing Disney Entertainment Television.
- Elisa Bolduc is moving to internal communications
- Robert Nunez will now oversee visual communications.
- Fonda Berosini will be heading up communications for Networks as well as Insights & Research.
- Jonelle Kelly will now lead executive communications for the organization.
- Ashley Kline will now be responsible for all publicity for ABC Entertainment.
- Amber Brockman is now in charge of publicity for Freeform
- Van Scott will continue to head up the ABC News publicity team.
Heading the team above is the Executive Vice President of Publicity and Head of Communications for Disney General Entertainment, Naomi Bulochnikov-Paul.
Over at National Geographic, Chris Albert is now in charge of publicity including content, digital, and magazine. He’ll report to Pam Levine, head of marketing for Disney Branded Television and Nat Geo Content.
The layoffs were announced by Bob Iger back in February who returned to the helm at the Walt Disney Company in a move that saw Bob Chapek ousted. The first round of staff cuts started in March and the goal of The Walt Disney Company was to cut 7,000 job cuts.
Watch this space as a third round of cuts is expected to hit at some point this summer.
