Construction Update: Adventureland Treehouse is Coming Along at Disneyland!
Last year, Disney surprised us with news that Tarzan’s Treehouse would be transforming into something new…well, sort of. Let’s take a look at how Adventureland Treehouse is coming along at Disneyland!
You might be wondering what I mean by sort of. Adventureland Treehouse is really just a new name for an old attraction (reimagined, that is).
Swiss Family Treehouse
Originally this location donned a Swiss Family Robinson theme. Disney describes its reimagining as “paying tribute to the original treehouse” built in 1962. (Check out the picture above from opening day, November 18, 1962.)
Inspired by the movie which came out in 1960, it’s set to “return in a fresh, new way.” Disneyland hasn’t released an exact date for its opening yet, but we do know that it will debut this year.
Tarzan’s Treehouse
Personally, I’m curious as to why they decided on changing it back. Fans seemed to enjoy the Tarzan theme, and it was certainly more current and relevant.
But, it is what it is. Disneyland’s website still lists the attraction as Tarzan’s Treehouse. A note states “An exciting refresh is coming soon! Tarzan’s Treehouse is undergoing a transformation—and will reopen in a fresh, new way in 2023 as Adventureland Treehouse, a whimsical attraction inspired by Walt Disney’s Swiss Family Robinson.”
Adventureland Treehouse
I had the pleasure of visiting Disneyland in December (2022) and upon my visit, the area was completely tarped up. Scaffolding surrounded the tree, and you could hear construction employees hard at work!
Today, we’ve got an exciting update for you! A few days ago, Disney TikTok creator @freshbakeddisney shared a fantastic video of Adventureland Treehouse’s progress.
Tarps and exterior scaffolding are down, revealing its reimagined exterior. I’ve always enjoyed a walk through Disneyland’s magical treehouse.
The views from the top are stunning! Stay tuned; MickeyBlog will continue to keep you posted on Adventureland Treehouse’s progress, and opening!
