Set Sail on the Disney Dream
Disney Cruise Line has been in the news recently due to the premier of the brand-new Disney Wish. It also has four other ships that are great options for your next vacation. Disney Cruise Line currently has 5 ships in their fleet. Sailing on any of the ships will be sure to delight your family. Here’s why you should set sail on the Disney Dream for your next vacation.
Location
The Disney Dream currently has a new home in Miami, Florida. In the past the Disney Dream sailed 3- and 4-night sailings from Port Canaveral. When the new Disney Wish premiered it took the Dream’s dock in Port Canaveral and also sails the Dream’s old itineraries. Now that the Dream is in Miami it has a variety of itineraries.
One of the perks of sailing from Miami is I have noticed often airfare to Miami is less expensive than Orlando. Miami is an American Airlines hub and often has reasonably priced direct airfare.
Itineraries
The Dream currently has unique itineraries. The Dream sails in the Caribbean, Mexico and will soon premier new destinations. In the summer of 2023, the Dream will be setting sail to Europe for the first time. European cruises offer Mediterranean, Greek Isles, Transatlantic, and Northern European ports.
In the Fall of 2023, the Dream will be sailing from New York City and visiting Bermuda and Canada. In the winter of 2023, The Dream will make its home in Fort Lauderdale. The Disney Dream also has a few sailings out of San Juan next fall.
Kids Club
The Disney Dream has lots on board activities to keep guests entertained. One of the best activities for children is the kids club. Disney Cruise Line offers free kids club for children 3-17. The Oceaneer Lab and Club is for ages 3-12. Vibe and Edge offer activities for teens. Kids can come and go as they please in the kid’s club activities.
The Oceaneer Lab and Club have several unique Disney themed areas. The Millenium Falcon, Toy Story, Tinkerbell, Pirates, and the Fab 5 are featured in the kid’s club. Parents can tour the kids club during daily open houses.
Entertainment
The Disney Dream features the Broadway caliber Beauty and the Beast as their feature show. The show is based on the live action Beauty in the Beast. As a Beauty in the Beast superfan, the show brought a tear to my eye.
On our 5-night sailing we also had the Golden Mickey’s and Disney’s Believe. The Golden Mickeys and Believe both feature a medley of favorite Disney movies. The level of talent in the Disney shows are far above other cruise lines we have sailed (Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival).
Recreation
Disney also offers trivia, Bingo, karaoke, bars, deck parties, character greetings, and lounges for guests to enjoy. The Disney Dream also has two pools and an adult’s only pool. Disney Cruise Line also offers fireworks at sea and the popular Pirate Night.
The feature water slide is the AquaDuck. The AquaDuck is a raft water slide that can fit two people at a time. You slide over the side of the ship providing beautiful ocean views. For younger children, Nemo’s Reef provides a fun splash area for children too small to swim in the pools.
Goofy’s sports deck provides mini golf, a basketball court, running track, and virtual sports simulators to entertain young and old alike.
The Dream also offers the Mid-Ship Detective agency which is a really fun interactive game throughout the ship. Players pick from 3 different mysteries and interact with magic photos throughout the ship. Guests collect clues to solve the mystery. Our 8-year-old loved this activity and played all 3 mysteries throughout the vacation.
Food
Food is included in your cruise fare. Guests can utilize the main dining rooms, the pool deck, room service, and the buffet at Cabanas for free food. For adults looking for an upgraded experience they can book Remy or Palo for an additional charge. Soft drinks are also included in the cruise fare compared to other cruise lines who charge extra. Alcoholic drinks are not included.
The Disney Dream also has a dessert and ice cream shop based on Wreck it Ralph, Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats. Gourmet ice cream, cupcakes, candy, and desserts can be found in Vanellope’s at a minimal charge.
Animator’s Palate, Enchanted Garden, and Royal Palace are the main rotational dining locations. Your servers follow you to each restaurant which is a unique experience on Disney Cruise Line. Our servers knew our family’s preferences and always had our drinks ready when we arrived. The servers take time to get to know each guest and pay special attention to children.
Pricing
The Disney Dream currently has promotions of up to 35% off for fall and winter sailings. Currently Select Halloween on the High Seas and Very Merrytime Cruises are available during this promotion. Select Sailings September-February are available at a discount.
