Disney Cruise Line’s Palo Brunch
Disney Cruise Line is a favorite for families with lots of experiences for children. Although Disney Cruise Line specializes with families, it also has several adult exclusive activities on board. Palo Brunch is one of those not to be missed activities on Disney Cruise Line.
Palo serves dinner and bunch. We recently had the opportunity to enjoy Palo Brunch on the Disney Magic.
Pricing
Every cruise line provides options for upgraded dining. Cruise lines include food in their fare, but specialty dining is always an upcharge.
The Disney Magic and Wonder have the option of Palo while the Dream in Fantasy have Palo and Remy. The Wish will have new specialty dining as well.
Palo offers Brunch and Dinner. Brunch is $45 per person plus gratuity. Dinner is also $45 a person or $59 a person with a wine pairing. As we did not want to miss any of the rotational dining for dinner, we opted to book the brunch.
Dress Code
One of the important things to note is that Palo has a dress code. Palo asks guests to not wear shorts, torn jeans, swimwear, or flip flops. They recommend khakis and a collared shirt for men and slacks or a dress for women. They do enforce this as my husband forgot and wore shorts with a collared shirt and had to go back to the room to change.
Experience
Upon arrival, the hostess will seat you at your table. The crew members are extremely attentive. Our table had a beautiful view of the ocean.
We were provided complimentary mimosas to start our experience. Guests are provided with a menu and encouraged to order as much food as they wanted. Guests can also use a QR code to scan the menu, but our waiter brought paper menus as well.
The meal was served in several courses. Prior to COVID, Palo had a buffet for some of the items. Currently the food is all served at your table. Guests are encouraged to select an Antipasti, Soup, Waffle, Pancake, Eggs, Flatbread or Calzone, Entree, and Dessert.
Food
I was impressed by the food quality at Palo. All of the food was fresh. The food was hot when it arrived at our table, and we could tell it had just been cooked.
Waffle and Pancakes
After guests select an antipasti, they are encouraged to select pancakes or waffles. Palo offers several flavors of both pancakes and waffles.
I started my meal with the Buttermilk Pancakes. They were delicious. I had pancakes several times while in the main dining room or Cabanas and it was not the same quality.
These were some of the best pancakes I have ever tasted. The pancakes were so fresh and fluffy that they did not need syrup as they had enough flavor on their own.
Eggs
The next course is eggs. Guests can select an egg benedict or frittata. I enjoyed the ham and cheese frittata. Typically I would not have ordered this because I was already full but I wanted to try something from each section of the menu
Similar to the pancakes, the Frittata was fresh and flavorful.
Pizza Oven
I had heard amazing reviews of the Calzone prior to our cruise so I knew that I had to order it. Guests can select a calzone or flatbread fresh from the pizza oven. I ordered the Calzone. It was the hot, fresh, and had been cooked to perfection.
Italian food is one of my favorites so I eat it quite often. The Calzone was again one of the best I’ve ever tasted.
Entree
The entrees include a variety of options from steak, pasta, seafood, and chicken. Guests could have tried multiple options but most people were so full that they just selected one option.
My main course was the Lasagna which again is one of my favorites that I order often. The Lasagna again did not disappoint. The mixture of cheeses in this Lasagna gave it a unique but delicious taste.
Dessert
Anyone who knows me knows that I never skip dessert. Although we had sampled lots of desserts throughout the cruise, Palo desserts were the best.
Desserts included chocolate souffle, amaretto souffle, tiramisu, limoncello tart, panna cotta, gelato, apple crostata, and almond cake.
Being the chocolate lover, I selected the chocolate soufflé. It was the perfect combination of warm chocolate cake and cool vanilla bean ice cream. It again was my favorite dessert on the ship.
Service
The service we received throughout our Disney Cruise was suburb. In the main dining rooms, the crew members remember your name and preferences. The Palo service was no exception. Our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu.
I would highly recommend trying Palo at least once during your cruise. It may not be something you want to splurge for every trip but it’s a great option for special occasions or first time cruises. Palo Brunch on Disney Cruise Line is not something to be missed.
