PHOTOS: Railroad Tracks Spotted During Tron Construction Check-In Today
Years of construction appear to be moving swiftly towards completion on one Magic Kingdom’s most anticipated new attractions in decades: Tron Lightcycle/Run. Today, MickeyBloggers Greg and Elyssa took a ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover to capture an overhead look at the continuing work.
In what has become the norm, we saw a number of crews working on multiple areas of the attraction’s interior as well as its immense exit walkway.
With the enormous canopy nearing completion, attention appears to have turned to the coaster’s intricate details.
One crew worked at leveling the ground at the base of the attraction’s exit. The walkway takes guests under the canopy.
In the ride’s narrative, the canopy illuminates to represent “The Grid,” the “digital frontier” created by the film’s protagonist Kevin Flynn to allow for quick-moving experimental research.
In other areas, crews worked to powerwash concrete walls that create the wave-like effect of the attraction’s structural exterior. The design mimics the canopy’s oscillations too.
With railings still in place, work continues to be done on the flooring that defines the walkway leaving the revolutionary thrill-ride. It appears crews leveled half of the walkway with crews now laying the other half of the material.
We also spotted scaffolding inside the entry tunnel, which will serve as part of the attraction’s queue upon its opening. With windows lining the structure to give a glimpse of the track, this spot certainly gives Space Mountain vibes, immersing guests in the attraction’s energy before they even board.
Train Tracks Spotted Outside Tron
In a special surprise during today’s trip around Tomorrowland, we also noticed a bit of really exciting work being done on the Walt Disney World Railroad. The new track will connect to the train’s existing path since it needed to be rerouted due to Tron Lightcycle/Run.
Situated to the side of Space Mountain, a space still remains in complete in this new section of track. Hopefully, this construction completes the popular locomotive’s pathway, allowing it to finally return to Magic Kingdom.
Blue tarp also covered the entire base of the roof at Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. This space serves as the pathway to Tron Lightcycle Power/Run, so the refurbishments to the building time well with the progress made at the upcoming attraction.
Stay tuned for more exciting progress not only on Tron Lightcycle/Run but also refurbishments taking place throughout Tomorrowland in preparation for the attraction’s opening.
