The Benefits of Staying at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn and Villas
Staying at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn and Villas comes with a lot of benefits and perks. It has historical character, whimsical charm, restaurants, bars, and a prime location.
The theme of Boardwalk Inn is an Atlantic City boardwalk at the turn of the century. Boardwalk has restaurants, shops, food stands, and bars along the Boardwalk.
Dining
In normal times Trattoria al Forno, one of the restaurants on the Boardwalk, hosts a character breakfast called Bon Voyage Breakfast which is one of our favorites featuring Ariel, Rapunzel, Prince Eric, and Flynn Rider.
Currently Trattoria al Forno is open but not doing character dining.
Disney’s Boardwalk also has a popular walk up Pizza Window and Boardwalk Bakery that are currently open. Joe’s Margaritas stand has also reopened serving margaritas and snacks. The Boardwalk also has popular nighttime entertainment such as bars and nightclubs such as the popular Jellyrolls and The Atlantic Dance Hall.
Accommodations
Boardwalk Inn has two sections of the resort: the hotel side, Boardwalk Inn and the Disney Vacation Club side, Boardwalk Villas. The Villas re-opened in June 2020 but the hotel side is scheduled to open July 2. Anyone can stay at the Boardwalk Villas regardless of being a Disney Vacation Club member.
The villas compose of Deluxe Studios, 1 Bedroom Villas, 2 Bedroom Villas, and 3 bedroom Grand Villas. The one bedroom villas and up (2 and 3 bedrooms) are equipped with a full kitchen, laundry, living room, dining room, and split bathroom. The villas are perfect for large families.
The hotel side of Boardwalk Inn has standard hotel rooms with two queen beds and a murphy bed for a 5th person. Both the hotel rooms and the villa studios can accommodate 5 guests which is a benefit for larger families.
Recreation
Boardwalk Inn has a main feature pool called the Luna Park Pool. The pool is themed after an amusement park during the heydays of Atlantic City. T
he former pool slide used to have what became lovingly known as the Creepy Clown slide, but it has now been reimagined with Mickey and friends using similar style to the new Minnie and Mickey’s Runaway Railway attraction in Hollywood Studios.
The poolside bar looks like a carousel. The main feature pool also has a kids pool and outdoor play ground for the children. Boardwalk Villas also has a quiet pool near the DVC Community Hall.
The community hall has several scheduled activities throughout the day such as arts and crafts, DVD rental, and video games. When we were there we participated in Mickey Tie Dye which was really fun and reasonably priced.
Location
Boardwalk’s excellent location is on Crescent Lake near both Hollywood Studios and Epcot. You can either take a boat, walk, or use the Skyliner to access Hollywood Studios and you can walk or take the boat to Epcot.
Boardwalk also provides bus transportation to Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom.
