Construction Update: The TRON Coaster Is Looking Amazing
If you were following along with MickeyBlog earlier today you’ll know that we were at Magic Kingdom and before we got evacuated from the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover we did manage to get a few shots of how construction is coming along on the TRON coaster.
We are really nearing that final stretch as more of the outdoor canopy is covered.
It definitely cuts a striking silhouette over Tomorrowland.
Work is still being done to the exterior of the building and the queues for guests.
The tunnel is also in place for the Walt Disney World railroad which has been shut down since construction started on the coaster as the location obstructs the previous tracks.
For those unfamiliar, this coaster is inspired by the TRON films and will have both indoor and outdoor elements.
Guests will board lightcycle replicas that will soar underneath the giant open air canopies you see in these images.
These will be illuminated to give guests the feeling that you are soaring through cyberspace!
As you can see the coaster will sit between Tomorrowland Speedway and Space Mountain.
Disney has yet to announce an opening date for the attraction though we hope that details will be released in the days and weeks ahead.
In the meantime you can pop over to the Shanghai Disneyland site and check out their Lightcycle Power/Run attraction which is where this coaster draws its inspiration.
As we reported here at MickeyBlog, the ride vehicles are now in place on this attraction.
We even shared a few weeks back some initial images of engineers testing the track and ride vehicles for the attraction.
There is clearly some work to be done to the grounds around the coaster.
But we suspect that will start to happen soon now that the canopy is almost done.
We’ll be sharing weekly construction updates with you.
Hopefully we’ll see even more big changes as we head into Spring and ultimately the big Summer Season.
Above is a great image of people enjoying the Speedway with the construction site towering in the background.
As you can see siding is still being added to the exterior of the building.
The entrance ramp for the attraction looks pretty well completed.
We love the image below where you can see the moment when the ride will exit the inside coaster portion and out into the canopies.
This ride is going to be simply amazing!
We can’t wait to experience it when it does open!
