PeopleMover Evacuated at Magic Kingdom This Afternoon
Our MickeyBloggers were riding the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover this afternoon at the Magic Kingdom when the ride shut down unexpectedly and all riders were told to evacuate.
The queues were closed to incoming guests and no reopening time was posted.
We happened to be on the attraction at the time to get photos of the TRON Coaster which you can see perfectly from the raised platform of this beloved Tomorrowland attraction.
Each of the cars were evacuated one by one. We were the last ones off the ride.
The cast members were not able to give us a reason for the closure or the duration.
We will try to get updates to keep you posted.
All riders were given a recovery pass due to the inconvenience of the closed attraction.
It is quite a busy afternoon at the parks and the ride was busy before the closure.
As the riders excited due to the closure, the line was still filled with guests waiting to get on.
It is not uncommon for PeopleMover to have the odd malfunction.
It also remained closed for a very lengthy period after Disney World’s COVID-19 shutdown and reopening.
This was due to the fact that because of the age of the ride, special parts had to be sourced for repairs.
We hope today’s closure is just a brief incident and that this beloved attraction will be back up and running in now time.
We also did manage to get some photos providing the latest look of work being done to the TRON coaster so be on the lookout for those!
Here are a few videos our MickeyBloggers took of the PeopleMover shutdown this afternoon:
Above you can see all of the guests being evacuated.
Above is Greg and Elyssa waiting patiently to get off the ride.
And more evacuations…
