Pixar Pals Parking Structure and Other Noteworthy Disneyland Updates
At Disneyland Resort in California, Disney is continuing to chip away a handful of changes they have dubbed Project Stardust. Among the enhancements are initiatives designed to maximize guest comfort and improve traffic flow in and around the parks. This to ready the resort for the arrival of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge later this Spring.
Parking Enhancements
Last year, Disneyland announced plans to build an additional parking structure adjacent to Mickey & Friends. This new structure will be officially called Pixar Pals and will feature much-loved friends from Pixar films including “Coco,” “Inside Out,” “Incredibles” and more! It will also feature a new electronic parking system designed to expedite guest parking. This new structure will add more than 5,000 parking spaces. Disney hopes to have it open no later than the end of July.
Also, an additional 2,000 parking spaces will be added to the Toy Story parking lot along with extra entrances. New security-screening tents will also be erected in the area which visitors will have to stop at before boarding the Toy Story parking lot shuttles. This will eliminate congestion in the esplanade outside the theme parks.
General Improvements at Disneyland Theme Park
Last year Disneyland theme park also underwent projects designed to improve guest flow and queuing including the curb grading in Town Square. In addition, work has now started on opening up the walkways in central plaza or the “hub” as well as enhancing curbs with slow inclines and softening corners on planters to help guests navigate better without obstructions.
Disneyland has also announced plans to work on the marquee to Adventureland. Plans are to temporarily take the marquee down to remove walkway support to enable better guest flow.
When Project Stardust is complete Disneyland will remain the same park fans have come to know and love but will ensure that larger crowds remain safe on their visits to the park.
