Access Will be Limited to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland for First Few Weeks
Are you pumped about the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland on May 31? If so, you will definitely want to keep on reading. Disneyland has confirmed that access to the much-anticipated land will be limited for the first few weeks in a few different ways.
Reservations Required
From May 31 to June 23, 2019, those looking to access Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland will require a reservation. There will not even be a standby line available. If you have hopes of showing up the day of during these dates, you will be turned away from the entrance of the Land.
How to Guarantee a Reservation
The only way to guarantee a reservation into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge from May 31 to June 23 is to have a resort reservation at one of the three official Disneyland Resort Hotels – Paradise Pier, Disneyland Hotel, and the Grand Californian. Registered Guests at each of these three hotels will receive a free reservation.
In addition, there will be a number of free reservations offered to those who are not staying at one of the three Disneyland Hotels. Details on how Disneyland will handle this reservation system are yet to be revealed.
Timed Access
Due to the extremely high demand of Guests wanting to get inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a Guests time inside the land will be limited from May 31 to June 23, 2019.
Disneyland Vice President Kris Theiler stated, “We will be giving guests a window of time, but we’re still working through what that looks like and the duration for that. We’ll be working hard to ensure that guests have enough time in the land to see all the great things and experience the attraction. We know guests might want to stay in there all day, but we’ve got a whole big group that wants to get in there. We’re just trying to balance all those things and really deliver the right solution for our guests.”
On June 24, 2019, Guests will be able to enjoy Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as long as they would like.
Virtual Queue
Disneyland is currently in the process of developing a virtual queue system for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Instead of waiting in line to get into the Land, Guests will be able to continue to explore the rest of Disneyland Park. One might relate the new virtual queue system to the current FastPass/MaxPass system at Disneyland. However, this will be a little different. Instead of receiving a time to return, those wanting to access the Land will be notified as the area empties that it is there turn to get in.
Speaking of FastPasses/MaxPasses: None will be offered for the first several months of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’s opening. It is not known at this time if/when FastPasses/MaxPasses will become available.
