Check Out the Ways that Disneyland Is Celebrating Women’s History Month
March is Women’s History Month and Disneyland Resort is celebrating women and their inspiring contributions through art, song, food and more!
A Warm Minnie Welcome
First let’s start with a special detail added to the entrance of Disneyland theme park. Minnie, for the first time, has her on floral display at the main entrance! Floral Minnie was created by the Disneyland Resort Horticulture Specialist Stacy Wise and her team of 13 horticulturalists.
Here iconic bow features 750 individual Nemesia flowers and the entire display features 1,900 individual plants including pansies, violas and petunias. She even features floral eyelashes!
Downtown Disney Chalk Art
Next, we head to the Downtown Disney District where chalk muralist Marcella Swett has been hard at work. You may have seen Marci’s work during Celebrate Soulfully this past February.
From March 15 – 31, 2022 she will be creating two different designs honoring women. Be on the lookout for her incredible creations near the Downtown Disney LIVE! stage. Swett is a senior production artist with Disney Live Entertainment. She is also an award-winning vidual artist and native of Southern California.
Celebrate With a Sprinkles Cupcake
Sprinkles, the beloved cupcake bakery at Downtown Disney, is introducing their first Female Chef Series for Women’s History Month. They are kicking things off with the Dark Chocolate Passion Fruit cupcake. This decadent chocolate treat is filled with delicious passion fruit curd and was created by Chef Brooke Williamson.
As part of the series, Sprinkles is also making a donation to Step Up Network which empowers young women with the skills and resources to reach their full potential . You can pick up the Dark Chocolate Passion Fruit cake until March 13th.
More Goodies at Downtown Disney
Ballast Point Brewing Company will be featuring special menu items all month long that pay homage to famous female chefs. The dishes will represent different eras, cuisines and talents that pushed boundaries and shook up the culinary world.
Lovepop is also featuring a unique assortment of empowering 3D greeting cards with phrases such as the one above “Stronger Together.” Star Wars fans will definitely want to check out the card featuring a pop-up Princess Leia.
You can also support women run businesses at Downtown Disney including Post 21 and Kayla’s Cake.
