Progress Being Made On Polishing of Partners Statue
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that earlier this week we shared images of the Partner Statue in the HUB of the Magic Kingdom
As you can see from the images below, Walt and Mickey are looking a little bit different today and for good reason.
Disney is currently polishing this famous bronze statue at the heart of Magic Kingdom directly in front of Cinderella Castle.
This is quite the process with several steps.
Earlier this wee, the statue was still looking a bit tarnished.
Whereas today it’s look rather monotone
In order to clean the statue it must first be stripped right down to the bare metal!
Then the metal needs to be cleaned and re-applied.
When that’s done, patina is added.
This is a coating of polymer and wax which must go over the entire statue to weatherproof it.
Those visiting Disney World over the next few weeks may see the statue in various stages of this process.
Though the statue doesn’t have its current sparkle it will all be worth it.
There’s no doubt that Walt and Mickey will be shining, shimmering and splendid when Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration kicks off next month.
Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog where we’ll be coming to you LIVE! from the theme parks each and every week.
