Jonathan Majors Denies Assault — “I Was Reckless With Her Heart, Not Her Body”
For the first time since a Manhattan jury found Jonathan Majors guilty of harassment and the assault of his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, the actor is publically speaking out.
In a new interview with ABC News anchor Linsey Davis on Good Morning America, Majors continued to deny any wrongdoing. When asked if he caused Jabbari’s injuries, Majros was adamant that he did not.
“That did not happen,” he said.
When questioned about how the injuries occurred then, Majors pled ignorance.
“I wish to God I knew. That would give clarity. That would give me some type of peace about it.”
Majors Was Arrested in March 2023
Majors was initially arrested on March 25, 2023, after he assaulted Jabbari.
On the drive home to Manhattan, Jabbari said she noticed a text message on Majors’s phone that read, “I wish I was kissing you right now.”
After grabbing the phone from Majors’s hands, he “pulled” and “twisted” her arm to retrieve the device. She also said felt a “hard blow” across her head.
After getting his phone back, Majors ordered the driver to stop the car. When the actor exited the vehicle, Jabbari tried to follow him.
At this point, Majors pushed Jabbari back into the car.
Majors’s defense team had tried to paint Jabbari as the aggressor. In the end, the jury ruled against the actor.
“I Shouldn’t Have Been in the Car”
When asked if he felt responsibility for what happened that night, Majors said that while he should never have put himself in the situation he did, he was not responsible for her injuries.
“I shouldn’t have been in the car. I shouldn’t have stepped out of the relationship. And I shouldn’t have been in the relationship,” Majors said.
“If I’m not in the car, none of this is happening. And if I leave the relationship, none of this is happening. If I’m man enough or brave enough to say, ‘I want to see someone else’ or ‘I’m done now,’ I’m not in that car. We’re not here. I’m responsible for those things.”
“But none of her injuries,” Davis prodded.
“Can’t say that,” Majors responded. “None of her injuries.”
Majors Says He Has Never “Struck a Woman, Ever”
Throughout the interview, Majors asserted that his relationship with Jabbari was “not healthy” and that he should have “walked away.”
“I was reckless with her heart, not with her body,” he said. “My hands have never struck a woman, ever.”
Following his conviction, Majors’s attorney Priya Chaudhry released a statement saying that the actor “has faith in the process and looks forward to fully clearing his name.”
Is Majors’ Career Over?
Less than an hour after the verdict was announced, Majors was dropped by Marvel Studios. The actor had been portraying the villainous Kang in both film and streaming.
When asked if he thought his Hollywood career would continue, Majors said he hoped it would.
“I pray I do,” Majors said of returning to the screen. “But it’s God’s plan and God’s timing.”
