As if the excitement of the EPCOT monorail running again is not big enough, we have more news to share. There is a beautiful new sign at the entrance to the EPCOT monorail line which goes from EPCOT to The Transportation and Ticket Center, lovingly known as The TTC.
The new sign is quite inviting with its bold and rather large letters. Guests cannot mistake the new sign and once you see it, you will be more excited than ever to know the monorail line will be back up soon and open for business.
Beginning on Sunday, July 18th, guests will once again be able to ride the “Highway in the Sky”
easily transporting them from TTC to EPCOT and back. When EPCOT reopened in July of last year, guests had much more limited choices with getting to and from EPCOT.
It was
bus transportation as the sole option, unless you wanted to pay for an Uber/Lyft, which would then be a cost some were not willing to pay.
The
Magic Kingdom monorail line, which links the 3 monorail resorts and the TTC to our beloved Magic Kingdom has been back for some time.
Now the wait is over for the other monorail line that we all love. Guests have been anxious for this reopening and now the time has come.
Keep in mind that until further notice, guests will be required to wear face masks that cover their nose and mouth while riding the monorail. This is because it is still mandatory to wear
face masks on all modes of transportation where people are enclosed together.
Should you forget your mask at the monorail platform, Cast Members are there to hand out disposable masks to guests.
This iconic monorail line first opened back in 1982 with the opening of EPCOT itself and has been serving guests ever since. Of course, it went “dark” once the parks closed due to COVID and guests have been just waiting for the good news we heard about its running again just this week.
A fun fact, 150,000 plus guests/day take advantage of this mode of transportation throughout The Walt Disney World Resort and the EPCOT monorail line takes 15 minutes to run from TTC to EPCOT and 15 minutes back.
Who wants to guess which color monorail will be the first to take the inaugural trip back to EPCOT on Sunday?
So remember, “por favor manténgase alejado de las puertas” as you enjoy your journey to and from EPCOT on the much anticipated reopening of this monorail line. The new signage is ready and waiting for guests and will guide them back up the ramp to their “highway in the sky”…
