In Frank, the film has a smart and capable navigator who knows the Amazon as well as anyone, and who adores his job as a skipper, whereas Lily presents a feisty, determined, and formidable ally that uses Franks navigating prowess to help her on her quest.
The Jungle Cruise film is based on the beloved Disney attraction of the same name; an attraction that Dwayne Johnson refers to as the feature experience for Walt Disney World for much of its existence.
Jungle Cruise is directed by veteran horror film director and producer Jaume Collet- Serra, who is known for his work on films like Orphan, Unknown, House of Wax, and The Shallows.
The film will enter Disney’s pantheon of Attraction based films; a collection that includes films like The Haunted Mansion, The Country Bears, The Pirates of The Caribbean Franchise, and, although not based on a specific attraction, Tomorrowland.
Many of the films debut to mixed reviews, with The Pirates of the Caribbean being the most popular, and long-running, film franchise of the bunch; with many hoping for Jungle Cruise to experience the same longevity and fandom.
Many can only hope that Dwayne Johnson can be the star capable of heading a successfully received Jungle Cruise, and its potential future installments, with Disney’s continued exploration into attraction-themed films, the imagination runs wild with what could be next!
Jungle Cruise is available in theatres, and on Disney+ via premiere access, this July 30th,
