A New Era For Marvel Via WandaVision?
I saw the clip and, frankly, didn’t understand the significance until someone passed along a link to Noah Dominguez story over on CBR.com. Hey, give me a break. It’s not Star Wars!
Anyway, the new WandaVision teaser, added today, prior to the show’s January 15 premiere, was billed:
Tune into the new y̶e̶a̶r̶ era. 📻 Marvel Studios’ WandaVision starts streaming January 15 on Disney+.
Watching WandaVision: “Signal” Teaser
But Dominguez correctly pointed out:
With WandaVision set to premiere in less than two weeks on Jan. 15, the latest teaser for Marvel Studios’ first Disney+ series heralds a new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Dubbed the “Signal” teaser, the promo continues to peel away the layers of the bizarre, sitcom-esque reality Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff has found herself in. At one point, an old clock/radio manages to get a signal through, repeatedly calling Wanda’s name. The promo itself also signals the beginning of Phase Four of the MCU, promising that with “a new year” comes “a new era.”
WandaVision will not only be Marvel Studios’ first Disney+ series, but — following the delay of films like Black Widow and Eternals — will also be the first MCU project released as part of Phase Four as a whole. Consisting of six episodes, WandaVision Season 1 is set to conclude on Feb. 19 and will be shortly followed by Marvel Studios’ second Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which is set to premiere its own six-episode first season on March 19.
And check out a few of the images to look for in the short teaser:
We see Agent Jimmy Woo (from Ant-Man and the Wasp) as portrayed by Randall Park.
This helicopter is flying very close to a force that looks very much like the static on the “peeled back” portions of the WandaVision posters from December.
And this strange picture with a “modern” Wanda and 1950s Vision.
