Every Disney TV Show, Movie and Theme Park Attraction Coming Your Way in 2021
It’s 2021 Disney friends and what a year it’s going be when it comes to all things Disney! There’s a whole host of awesome Disney fun coming your way this month from theme park milestones to incredible movies and shows.
Films (Including Disney, Marvel, Pixar and More!)
First let’s head to the cinemas for a bounty of new movies!
Walt Disney Animation Studios:
- Raya and the Last Dragon – Featuring the voices of Kelly Marie Tran as Raya and Awkwafina as Sisu which will be available on Disney+ with premiere access on Disney+ at the same time that its released in theaters March 5, 2021.
- Encanto – We are so excited for this new film set in Colombia and brimming with magic. It explores the bonds of family and will feature a stunning soundtrack with songs by Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda. This film will hit theaters in November 2021.
Pixar:
- Luca – In June, Pixar will debut a brand new original film that celebrates the universal theme of friendship. Set in a seaside town on the Italian Riviera where a young boy Luca experiences an unforgettable summer filled gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. He shares these adventures with his newfound best friend but their good time is threatened by a deeply held secret. (We’ll give you a hint – It’s sea monsters!!)
Disney:
- Jungle Cruise- This film based on the beloved theme park attraction of the same name stars Dwayne Johnson as a wisecracking skipper and Emily Blunt as an intrepid researcher who are traveling the Amazon jungle to uncover an ancient tree with healing abilities. The duo face innumerable dangers, supernatural forces and escalating stakes.
- Cruella – Oscar Winner Emma Stone takes on the wickedly wonderful role of Cruella de Vil in Disney’s Cruella a look at the rebellious days of one of Disney’s most notorious baddies. The film will also star Emma Thompson, Paul Walter Hauser and Joel Fry. It is directed by Craig Gillespie.
Marvel
- Black Widow- Could we finally see Natasha Romanoff return to the Big Screen? According to Disney, 2021 is the year where Marvel starts the next phase of its cinematic universe. The film staring Scarlett Johansson is slated to be first out of the gate!
- Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – This film will star Simu Liu, Tony Leung, Awkwafina and Michelle Yeoh.
- Eternals – This film will feature an incredible ensemble cast that includes Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie.
20th Century Studios
- The King’s Man – One man must race against time to stop a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds who are plotting a war to wipe out million. The all star cast includes Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Bruhl, Djimon Hounsou and Charles Dance.
- Ron’s Gone Wrong – Barney is a socially awkward middle-schooler and Ron, his new walking talking digitally connected device which is supposed to be his “Best Friend out of the Box.” What ensures is an action-packed journey that demonstrates for both Barney and his robot best that friendship gets messy sometimes.
- Free Guy – Ryan Reynolds stars as a bank teller who discovers he is actually an NPC in an open-world video game. That is until he decides to become the hero of his own story and rewrites a better role for himself.
- Death on the Nile – Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot is back and aboard a glamorous river steamer which turns into a terryifying search for a murderer. Kenneth Branagh directs and stars as the beloved detected and he’s joined by an all-star cast that includes Tom Bateman, Anette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Godot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders and Letitia Wright.
- West Side Story – In late 2021, Steven Spielberg’s long awaited adaptation of the original Broadway musical West Side Story. The film explores the love and tensions between rival gangs on the streets of 1957 New York.
Movies Heading Straight to Disney+
- Flora & Ulysses – This delightful comedy-adventure is based on the Newberry Award-winning book about 10 year-old Flora who was an avid comic book fan and self-avowed cynic who rescues a squirrel with superhero powers!
- Sneakerella – This music-driven film gives the classic fairy tale a modern twist by setting it in the world of modern day New York City street-sneaker subculture. The film stars Chosen Jacobs and an aspiring sneaker designer who dreams of become a force in the fashion industry. Can his dreams come true with a nudge from his best friend or his Fairy Godmother.
- Diary of a Wimpy Kid – Based on the popular book series a brand new animated film is slated to come to Disney+ this year.
- Night at the Museum – And speak of animated films, this beloved franchise about a museum that comes to life after dark is also getting the animated treatment and will debut on Disney+ this year.
Television
ABC
- Call Your Mother – A new show starring Kyra Sedgwick about an empty-nester mom who wonders how she ended up alone while her children live their best lives thousands of miles away.
- Rebel – Show inspired by the life of Erin Brockovich and starring Katey Sagal.
- The Chase – A brand-new game show hosted by The View’s Sara Haines and featuring three of Jeopardy’s greatest players.
- The Hustler- Hosted by writer and comedian Craig Ferguson this new game show breaks the mold by featuring one player who secretly already knows the answers. Don’t be fooled. Just because they have a leg up doesn’t mean they’ll be taking home the prize.
- Returning for another season: The Bachelor, black-ish, The Conners, and A Million Little Things;
National Geographic
- Genius: Aretha – Starring Cynthia Erivo will take a closer look at the life and legacy of Aretha Franklin.
- The Secrets of the Whales- Narrated by Sigourney Weaver this docuseries will be executive produced by James Cameron.
Disney Channel
- Secrets of Sulphur Springs – A brand new mystery/time travel series is heading to Disney Channel in 2021. The series is reportedly about a boy and his family moving into a haunted hotel on the edge of a small town.
- Returning for Another Season – BUNK’D, Mira, Royal Detective
Freeform:
- Good Trouble – This popular show following Callie and Mariana as they embark on the next adventure in their lives in Los Angeles will be back for another season.
- Grown-ish – This black*ish spinoff follows the Johnson family’s eldest daughter as she takes her first steps in the real world and heads off to college.
FX
- What We Do In The Shadows – Based on the feature film of the same name from Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, “What We Do in the Shadows” is a documentary-style look into the daily (or rather, nightly) lives of four vampires who’ve “lived” together for hundreds of years in Staten Island. This award-winning show will be returning to FX in 2021.
Disney+
- The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers – A reckless young lawyer who is given a court-ordered assignment to coach a youth hockey team as part of his community service following a DUI arrest. TV version of the 1990s films. The show will star Emilio Estevez, Lauren Graham and Brady Noon.
- Turner & Hooch – The hourlong series centers on Scott Turner, played by Josh Peck, who inherits a big unruly dog, Hooch. He soon realizes the pet he didn’t want may be the partner he needs.
- Big Shot – Starring John Stamos, the series follows a temperamental basketball coach who is fired from his current job and ends up in an elite girl’s private high school.
- Doogie Kameāloha, M.D – Set in modern-day Hawaii, this 10-episode comedy follows Lahela “Doogie” Kameāloha, a mixed race 16-year-old girl, juggling a budding medical career and life as a teenager. Kourtney Kang (“Fresh Off the Boat,” “How I Met Your Mother”) is set to write and executive produce the project.
- Just Beyond- This horror/comedy series is written by Seth Grahame-Smith and is based on the best-selling graphic novel series from R.L. Stine (Goosebumps.)
- The Mysterious Benedict Society – Starring Tony Hale and featuring an ensemble of young actors it follows students placed undercover at a boarding school know as “The Institute.” Its up to them to foil a nefarious plot that has global ramifications. Along the way they also learn about the importance of Family.
- Pixar Popcorn – Slated to debut in January and is a collection of mini shorts featuring Pixar characters in all-new, bite-size stories created by Pixar’s talented animators.
- Dug Days – slated to release in the Fall of 2020, the series will focus on Dug and Carl from Pixar’s Up as they settle into their suburban life.
- Monsters at Work – This series will further explore the world originally established in Monsters Inc and Monsters University.
- The Proud Family- Louder and Prouder – You won’t want to miss the revival of the original groundbreaking animated series The Proud Family.
- WandaVision- Living idealized suburban lives, Marvel’s super-powered beings Wanda (Elizabeth Olson) and Vision (Paul Bettany) begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.
- The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) are a mismatched duo who team up for a global adventure that will test their survival skills — as well as their patience.
- Loki – The mercurial villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston) resumes his role as the god of mischief in a new series that takes place after the action of Avengers: Endgame.
- The Mandalorian –Get ready to binge on the latest instalment of this beloved Star Wars space western when it returns to Disney+ on December of 2021.
- The Book of Boba Fett – Boba Fett’s journey will continue within the timeline of The Mandalorian in this series starring Temuera Morrison as the bounty hunger and Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand.
- Star Wars: The Bad Batch – This new animated series will be making its debut later in the year and will follow a unique group of clones in the aftermath of Order 66.
Anniversary Celebrations and New Attractions
Disneyland
- Avengers Campus – While Disneyland Resort is currently still closed, this new land at Disney California Adventure will allow guests to unleash your inner Superhero alongside The Avengers, The Guardians of the Galaxy and more!
- Snow White’s Enchanted Wish – This classic Disneyland dark ride is getting a revamp with lots of new state-of-the-arts touches and a little bit less scariness.
- Disney California Adventure and the Downtown Disney District will be celebrating their 20th anniversaries in January
Walt Disney World:
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure – Shrink down to the size of a rat at EPCOT and explore a bustling Parisian kitchen in this ride themed after Pixar’s beloved film Ratatouille.
- Harmonious – Nights at Disney World are about to get a whole lot more exciting with this new nighttime spectacular at EPCOT that will celebrate the impact that Disney music has on fans around the globe.
- 50th Anniversary –2021 will also mark Walt Disney World’s golden anniversary—50 years of making magic!
Disneyland Paris
- Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel – Hotel New York is undergoing its largest refurbishment ever and will transform the property into a superheroes dream when it opens this year. It will be the very first hotel dedicated eintirely to the celebration of Marvel with one of the largest publicly viewable collections of Marvel artwork in the world.
- Unnamed Cars Attraction – Walt Disney Studios Park will feature a new attraction themed after Pixar’s Cars where guests will be able to discover wacky roadside attractions and natural wonders found on America’s highways.
Shanghai Disneyland
- This theme park just unveiled an new logo which marks the start of the theme park’s 5th anniversary which officially kicks off in June.
Hong Kong Disneyland:
- Hong Kong Disneyland has already started celebrating its 15th Anniversary with the debut of the Castle of Magic Dreams! We expect more celebrations throughout the year!
