Ke Huy Quan Took Inspiration From His Iconic ‘Goonies’ Role When Playing O.B. in ‘Loki’
As Ke Huy Quan prepared to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Ouroborus in the Disney+ series Loki, he was not sure how to play the character.
Entering the intricate world of Marvel can be intimidating, even for a veteran actor like Quan.

“I had meetings with our writers, with our showrunner, with Tom Hiddleston, and I was trying to pick their brains to see what their vision was for this character,” Quan recalled to Collider.

“They were very supportive, and they offered a lot of suggestions and advice. I felt this tremendous pressure because I didn’t want to disappoint the fans.”
Quan Had a Breakthrough Thanks to ‘Goonies’
Eventually, Quan begins to gain clarity when he finally arrives on set. There, he learned that the crew had the set that included Ouroborus station in the TVA, the “Roger Moore.”

“It was called Roger Moore, and as you know, Roger Moore played James Bond, and Data from The Goonies loves James Bond, and it dawned on me that O.B. could be a variant of Data from The Goonies.”
Goonies fans have long pointed out the similarities between Data and O.B., including thier love of inventions and gadgets.

According to Quan, once he made the connection itself, his performance as O.B. fell into place.
“I knew exactly how I wanted to play him. The only thing is, I just have to time slip back into 1985 to try to remember what it was like to play this character and to bring all that energy and memories I had, and time slip back into the TVA and put all of that into Ouroboros.”
Fans Loved Quan’s Performance
When Marvel fans finally got to see Quan’s performance, Ouroborus became a fan-favorite character. It was an outpouring of love that has not gone unnoticed by the actor.
