‘X-Men ’97’ Producer Explains Why Wolverine, Storm and Morph Were Missing From Season 1’s Final Scenes

Season 1 of X-Men ’97 concluded with the X-Men being thrown through time and landing in different time periods.

Cyclops and Jean found themselves in 3960 AD, where they met Mother Askani and a young Nathan Summers. Rouge, Nightcrawler, Beast, Professor Xavier, and Magneto, meanwhile, landed in ancient Egypt, where they found themselves face to face with En Sabah Nor, the being who will eventually become Apocalypse.

Back in the present time, Forge and Bishop were left to pick up the pieces and figure out what to do next. That left many fans to ask- where are Wolverine, Storm, and Morph?

Jack Castorena Talks ‘X-Men ’97’ Season 2

In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, X-Men ’97 producer Jack Castorena explained why the team decided not to reveal the fate of all the X-Men.

“One, screen time. It’s always about screen time, animation costs money, good animation costs more money. And two, don’t you want to dangle a carrot on why to come to Season 2? If you got all the questions answered, why even watch the season? [I] will confirm that we will see all of the X-Men again. We’re not going to pull a fast one on you, in that regard. But as far as why we didn’t see them… you can’t always satisfy the audience to what they want,” he explained.

“You can’t always give them the thing. Because then, you gave him the thing and it’s like, ‘Oh, well, now I’m not invested,’ or ‘Now the stakes aren’t as high,’ or, or now, ‘I can wait for Season 2.’ Like, no, the point was, ‘Where is Season 2?’ I think we’re doing that based on the questions that we’re getting asked. ‘Where the hell is Storm? Where is Wolverine? Where’s our Morph?’ So all questions will be answered in Season 2.”

A Lot of Questions Were Left Unanswered

In addition to Morph, Storm, and Wolverine, the season finale of X-Men ’97 left many other questions unanswered.

For starters, what happened to Cable? Where are Jubilee and Sunspot? And will Apocolypse bring Gambit back to life?

Hopefully, as Castorena said, all answers will be answered in Season 2.
