Giancarlo Esposito Announces He Has Joined the MCU — But Won’t Reveal His Character
The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
During an appearance at CCXP in Mexico City (via Collider), Esposito announced that after years of speculation, he is finally making the jump into the MCU. However, it is not in the role that many had expected.
With the X-Men set to make their MCU debut soon, rumors had continued to swirl that Esposito would portray Professor Charles Xavier when the iconic mutant team finally arrived.
Esposito’s Role Remains a Mystery
Instead, during his presentation, Esposito told fans that he would not be playing Professor X but would instead be appearing as someone “better than you can imagine” and “sooner than you think.”

“I cannot promise you it’ll be Professor X, because here’s what I think,” Esposito said. “I think that there’s something about being original. We’ve seen different versions of Professor X. Wouldn’t you like to see me play a character in a Marvel movie who is original, and new, and fresh? So, mark my words: This will happen sooner than you think.”
Is Esposito Playing Galactus?
With Charles Xavier apparently off the table, the question then becomes who will Espositio play? Based on the actor’s assertion that he will appear “sooner than you think,” perhaps he will join the cast of The Fantastic Four? Could Galactus be the mystery role?

No matter who Esposito plays, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has gained another star. I, for one, can’t wait to see what Kevin Feige and his team have in store for fans.
