Disney’s Hollywood Studios 35th Anniversary Pressed Pennies Arrive — But There’s a Problem

In case you haven’t heard, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is celebrating its 35th anniversary today!

That’s right! The park that introduced us all to the Hollywood that never was and always will be, and taught us to say “Hooray for Hollywood,” is turning 35.

Throughout the day today, we have brought you updates on the 35th anniversary merchandise line, the special ceremony that took place in the Theater of the Stars, and even the commemorative guide map that Disney is handing out.

Now, I want to turn your attention to a smaller way that Disney is celebrating the park’s anniversary.

Hollywood Studios 35th Anniversary Pressed Pennies

In honor of Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ big day, the pressed penny machine located behind the Hollywood Junction is offering four commemorative pressed pennies.

Each design is based on a current land or attraction in the park.

The first design features Mickey and Minnie and is clearly inspired by Runaway Railway.

The second penny draws inspiration from Star Wars and showcases the Millennium Falcon.

Third up, we have a Woody pressed penny that is clearly inspired by Toy Story Land.

Finally, we have what is slowly becoming the park’s definitive icon — the Hollywood Tower Hotel.

No Penny Required

Unlike the pressed penny machines back in my day, you can get these Disney’s Hollywood Studios 35th-anniversary pennies without supplying a coin. Each pressed penny costs $1.

All you need to do is insert a dollar bill (or use your credit card if you want all four) and let the machine work its magic.

The Machine Is Broken!

Unfortunately, the pressed penny machine is out of order at this time.

While it was working earlier in the day, things seem to have gone amuck.

Hopefully, Disney will repair the machine soon because these pressed pennies are a lot of fun!
