With ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2 on the Horizon, Eman Esfandi Reveals Ezra Bridger’s Greatest Strength
While season 1 of Ahsoka was ostensibly about the former Jedi padawan and her relationship with Anakin Skywalker, the series also continued the story of the Ghost Crew from Star Wars Rebels.
Looming over the entire series and propelling its narrative forward was Sabine Wren’s search for her friend and Jedi, Ezra Bridger, who was last seen sacrificing himself in order to save Lothal from Grand Admiral Thrawn at the end of Star Wars Rebels.
Ahoska season 1 ended with both Ezra and Thrawn escaping from their exile on Peridea and rentering the known galaxy. While Grand Admiral Thrawn will certainly pose the New Republic with its greatest threat since the fall of the Empire, the galaxy has also gained another Jedi.
Eman Esfandi Talks Ezra’s Strength
In a recent interview with Collider, Eman Esfandi, who plays Ezra in live-action, discussed what his character’s return to the galaxy could mean. Interestingly, Esfandi believes that Ezra’s greatest strengths lie outside of his ability to use force.
“Maybe the one thing that isn’t immediately thought of about him that me, getting to play him that I personally believe about him, is that [Ezra] is actually a really brilliant tactician. Because he’s not really THE tactician, right? He’s usually off on a whim, going, ‘I don’t know! I’m gonna do this!’ and it works out for him because he’s using the Force.”
While Ezra being one of the last remaining Jedi in the era of the New Republic is obviously central to the characters’ appeal, Esfandi’s observation is correct.
Throughout Star Wars Rebels, Ezra proved time and time again that he, along with the rest of the Ghost Crew, was an excellent tactician. In the end, it was Ezra who figured out how to finally defeat Thrawn.
The fact that he survived on Peridea and helped lead the Noti on Peridea also speaks to this.
With Ahsoka season 2 on the horizon and Thrawn once again posing a threat to the galaxy, Ezra’s ability as a tactician will be put to the test. Going toe-to-toe with Thrawn will be no easy task, but with Ahsoka and Sabine still stranded on Peridea, it will be up to Ezra to lead the New Republic forward.
