Tom Holland Talks ‘Spider-Man 4’: “I’ll Always Want To Do More”
With Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johansson leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) behind to explore other opportunities, the burden of carrying the franchise forward has suddenly largely fallen on the shoulders of Tom Holland.
The Spider-Man star already helped give Marvel its biggest post-Endgame success with Spider-Man: Far From Home, and now, his character seems poised to lead the next iteration of the Avengers.

Despite these expectations, Holland’s future in the MCU has remained clouded. Technically speaking, a fourth Spider-Man film has yet to be announced, and Holland could also opt to turn in his superhero suit.

After all, no other Spider-Man, not Tobey Maguire nor Andrew Garfield, has ever had a fourth installment in their franchise.
What’s Next For Holland’s Spider-Man?
Luckily, at the Sand International Film Festival, Holland was asked about returning as Spider-Man, and he finally gave a definitive answer.
“The simple answer is that I’ll always want to do Spider-Man films,” Tom told Deadline. “I owe my life and career to Spider-Man. So, the simple answer is yes. I’ll always want to do more.”

With Holland sounding excited to portray Spider-Man in a fourth stand-alone film, the question then becomes, what does Marvel do next with the character.
Spider-Man: Far From Home was in many ways a cinematic event, bringing together over 20 years of Spider-Man stories. Topping that is going to be a tough task.
“We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect,” he said. “The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing.”
Holland Is Involved in the Film’s Development
Interestingly, for the first time in the franchise’s history, Holland will be involved in the early development of Spider-Man 4, giving him a stronger voice in what happens next.
“This is the first time in this process that I’ve been part of the creative so early. It’s just a process where I’m watching and learning. It’s just a really fun stage for me. Like I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we’re not overdoing the same things,” Holland explained.

While we still do not have an official announcement from Marvel that Spider-Man 4 is a go, everything sounds like it is heading in the right direction. It looks like Marvel fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
